K-POP SEVENTEEN members solo songs that should be on CARAT's playlist
The members of SEVENTEEN are amazingly talented idols and they not only prove their talents together, they have also done it as solo artists with these songs.
SEVENTEEN is a very cool and amazing K-Pop group, it is full of talent thanks to all the musical abilities of its members. Although each idol in this boy band specializes in either singing, dancing, or rapping, the truth is that all of them are good at everything and created a perfect team.
Since SVT's debut, the members have given their all for their music and performances. They have an amazing synchronization despite being 13 people, they also combine their talents , skills very well and we can even say that their personalities complement each other in a certain way.
Far from just being a K-Pop group, SVT is now also a big family. Their success as a whole has been great, we cannot imagine the group without one of its 13 members. They all shine within the group, although some of them have also done so as soloists .
So here we have some of our favorite songs by the members of SEVENTEEN as solo artists , enjoy their solo songs in which they exploit their talents even more.
In 2021, Jeonghan released 'Dream' , a song in Korean and Japanese in which we can enjoy the angelic voice of this amazing singer with a beautiful acustic guitar in the background.
Jun released 'Silent Boarding Gate' in 2021, a cute ballad in which we can listen to the singer's unique voice. He's amazing, he won't just be great in singing, he's also an amazing performer and actor. This song is in Chinese since he's from China.
Our tiger Hoshi has released more than one song as a soloist but we all loved 'Spider' , this one was released on 2021 and it has such a cool coreography too, we all loved this digital single.
SEVENTEEN's producer, Woozi is the mastermind behind a lot of songs and we could get a solo mixtape from him in this 2022, 'Ruby' is an English song with a unique style that only Lee Jihoon could pull.
We love the voice that DK has, it's pretty amazing and it gives SEVENTEEN's song something very special. He has released some solo songs and OSTs for dramas, but for 2021 Christmas, he released 'You're My Christmas' .
THE8 is the member of SEVENTEEN with more songs as a solo artist, and we loved 'Side By Side' which a song in Korean and Chinese with a very cool coreography and rythm. He almost always releases his songs in both languages.
This solo song by Seungkwan was a part of the OST for the drama 'Mother' this idol's voice is just mesmerizing and we loved how it shines in 'Kind Of Love' .
Vernon is such an amazing rapper and he has some songs as a soloist, the most recent one is 'Bands Boys' which he released in 2021, and it has all of his talent as a fast rapper with a unique style and as a songwriter too.

SEVENTEEN’ s Woozi cuts a dynamic figure in the music industry. Since his debut in 2015, he’s become known for virtuosic musical talent, prolific songwriting, and a reserved demeanor that can shift from power to shyness in the space of one vital moment.
As the leader of the group’s vocal unit, he commands the stage with poise, casually belting notes that could easily fill a stadium. As a lyricist, composer, and producer, the 25-year-old has over 100 songs credited to his name — though as he recently told Marie Claire Korea the number could surpass 500 when taking unreleased songs into account. He’s often extolled as a genius, even by those in his own circle , so, of course, expectations for his first-ever solo mixtape were bound to be high. Enter: “Ruby.”
Released on January 3, “Ruby” might be Woozi’s first official solo mixtape, but it’s definitely not his first solo song. The repackage of SEVENTEEN’s first full-length album, Love & Letter , featured his pop ballad “Simple.” During 2017’s Diamond Edge Tour , he performed the slow-tempo dance-infused “With You,” and in 2019, he released “Miracle” as part of the OST for the K-drama The Tale of Nokdu . That’s not to mention the fan-favorite “What Kind of Future,” also an unreleased heartfelt ballad that was first unveiled during the group’s Ideal Cut concerts and recently served as inspiration for Seungkwan’s uproarious rebuttal during Going Seventeen ’s Debate Night Ⅲ . It’s easy to spot a common thread, but “Ruby” tells a different story.
When Pledis first announced the mixtape in late December, many fans semi-quippingly wished “What Kind of Future” would be part of it. Woozi had other plans. “The reason why I decided to release a new song instead of choosing an existing solo was because this was such a precious opportunity to make music that is unlike Woozi but also the most Woozi at the same time,” he tells Teen Vogue via an interpreter over a video call, just a week before the song’s official release. When he was presented with the opportunity to release a one-track mixtape, Woozi says his first thought was to create something that would not only show a new side of his artistry, but that would also serve as a precious gift for CARATs — and what better timing for that than just after ringing in the new year.
Even so, that seemingly simple task came with its fair share of worries. “After I discussed it with our company and decided to release this mixtape, I actually had a lot of thoughts and concerns,” Woozi says. “Because this is my first time going solo, outside of the team, I wondered a lot about how I would sound as a solo artist. Not as a member of SEVENTEEN, but as singer Woozi. I questioned myself and what kind of music I should make and the result became very diverse, colorful, and satisfying.”
The distinction of “Ruby” as a project by Woozi the soloist versus SEVENTEEN’s Woozi started from the get-go. “The process itself of creating ‘Ruby’ was very different from the way I make music as a team,” Woozi says. “When it comes to creating music for SEVENTEEN, we start with discussing the overall message and then we start touching on the music with the computer. But, as a soloist, instead of starting with a computer, I started with musical instruments. I remember [for “Ruby”] I started working with a guitar first.”
Though he wanted to find his own voice, one he hadn’t quite shown before, Woozi also turned to his members during the creative process. “All the members were really curious to know what kind of music I would make and how it would sound so although it wasn't completed, I let them hear ‘Ruby’ when it was available,” Woozi recounts. “They all said things like, ‘it's really great. It's really Woozi-like.’ And that was the vibe I was going for before I was making the music, so I felt relieved that members thought that way.”
As Woozi himself put it earlier, “diverse” is certainly the key word to describe “Ruby.” The track features three distinct sections and genres, which make it feel almost like a self-contained mini-movie. “Ruby'' opens with an innocent classical string section, immediately evocative of those familiar opening sequences used to introduce fairytales — except this isn’t quite a fairytale and there’s nothing innocent about it, as we learn shortly after. The second half is the core of the song where the story unfolds. It continues the rock vein SEVENTEEN first introduced with the title track of their latest release, Attacca , and takes it up a notch with heavy electric guitars, booming drums, and brazen innuendoes. This section segues seamlessly into the denouement, which goes the jazz route, featuring piano keys not unlike those often used to keep film audiences engrossed during ending credits. As expected from the symbolism of the crimson hue, the lyrics are all about passion.

Prior to the release of “Ruby,” fans decoded, with varying degrees of success, multiple teasers and hints: cryptic lip emojis hinting at the song’s lyrics, for example, and concept photos mirroring scenes from the accompanying music video, which at times felt more like a fashion film. The very last surprise, revealed just a day prior to the song’s release, was the fact that “Ruby” would be fully in English, making it the first all-English track penned and sung by Woozi. “To be honest, [writing the song in English] wasn't easy,” Woozi says. “I thought a lot about what language would fit the song best. At first, I wasn't thinking about English per se. But as I began writing the song, I just thought that English was very intuitive, very cool. When I thought about a language that could incorporate the color of the song fully, that was English. So although it was challenging, I thought it was very appropriate. And I got a lot of help from my colleagues, which was really great.” The song was written with long-time in-house collaborators Bumzu and Shannon, and composed and arranged by Woozi himself alongside Bumzu as well as PRISMFILTER’s Park Kitae and Building Owner.
“Ruby” is the second solo mixtape to come from SEVENTEEN in recent months, though there have been solos aplenty in the past year. Back in April 2021, Hoshi also put out “Spider,” which Woozi contributed to. “I knew I wanted to work on ‘Spider’ with Woozi, my friend [and member], who has been by my side for the past ten years and watched me grow as an artist,” Hoshi told Teen Vogue at the time . When “Spider” came out, a photo book titled TTT (or, The Thirteen Tapes ) followed just weeks after. That release was labeled as “Vol. 1/13.” When asked whether “Ruby” is going to be the second addition, Woozi lets out a small, shy grin. “I think so,” he says hesitantly, in English, without revealing much else. That shyness is also present when he’s asked about receiving the title of Best Producer at the 2021 Asia Artist Awards, an esteemed decoration whose past recipients include Bang Si-hyuk, Pdogg, and Zico. Woozi accepted the trophy on stage as his members raucously cheered him on from the audience . “I don’t have that personality that likes to show off so I just keep it to myself. I keep all the pressure to myself,” Woozi says about receiving such honors.
Looking back on 2021, however, Woozi doesn't shy away from admitting it was a tough year. He shares that he has not actually stopped to think about any regrets and instead tries to focus on doing the best that he can every day, but it’s undeniable that there have been some bumps in the road. “I have had to storm through difficulties, but I got a lot of energy from CARATs and my members,” he says. “The time when I thought it was really tough was during the Power of Love concerts [in November]. They were actually planned to be in-person concerts, but we had to change it to online only. I thought that we could finally meet CARATs in person this time, but when that hope was just gone, it was tough for me to take it in.” This echoes sentiments he expressed during his birthday VLIVE , which just so happened to coincide with the last concert. “Throughout those times CARATs and the members really gave me a lot of strength,” he adds. “Especially the members kept on giving me energy to move forward.”
Just days after our chat, Woozi’s sorrows only ring half true. The members of SEVENTEEN (minus Jun and The8) finally reunited with CARATs face to face, albeit briefly and with no shouting allowed, during the 2022 Weverse Con [New Era] New Year’s Eve concert — and the excitement in their eyes was glaringly obvious even through HYBE’s 1080p stream.
Since the latter half of their second world tour, Ode to You , got canceled in light of COVID, SEVENTEEN have not been on the road, so doing a tour in 2022 is something that Woozi would “very, very, very, very much” like to happen. While he awaits that confirmation with the members, he has a simpler wish. “In 2022, I really want to eat in a restaurant with all the members together. That used to be normal, but [because of COVID regulations], we haven’t been able to do it these days,” he lets out with half a smile. “We have a lot of people,” he adds, a second later, an amused laugh escaping him.
