Setting up streaming for a whole household
Field NotesGetting one person off cable is easy. Getting a whole household to agree is the real challenge, especially when everyone watches something completely different. This is how we sorted it out without a fight.
The backbone is a atlas iptv: a single login covering thousands of live channels, a large on-demand library, and the international channels the grandparents wanted, all in 4K and without a rented box. Because it is one service instead of five, nobody had to learn five different apps or remember five separate passwords.
A few things helped the transition go smoothly. We tested it on the main television first, during a busy evening, before cancelling anything at all. We wrote down the channels each person actually cared about, which turned out to be far fewer than the old bundle. And we kept the setup simple so the least techy person in the house could still find their shows.
A month later the bill is down by more than half, the arguments over the remote have mostly stopped, and even the cable-loyal member of the family has stopped asking to switch back. If you are trying to move a whole household, start with what each person watches and build out from there.
