Received today and thought this might be a special paint set after reading about Sennelier paints like they were top of the line. When I opened the case half pans fell helter skelter out of the box. There is no chart to show the names of the colors or in what order they should be placed in the case. I placed them as best I could following the Amazon picture of the product. Just be forewarned, this is not an impressive product. Hopefully the paints prove more worthwhile than the "opening experience".

I bought this set mainly for the box. I have a big set of Sennelier L’Aquarelle professional line and was able find all the matching colors to make a comparison. Five out of the 12 colors have the same pigments and they do look similar on swatches. Orange (645), Cobalt blue (307), and payne’s grey (703) are the three colors that are very different. Especially the orange, they are basically two different colors. For all these La Petite colors, I did notice they were duller when diluted on palette as well as on paper, lacking the depth of the L’Aquarelle paints, which is fully expected. I like the color selection of this set and the colors are vivid and transparent comparing to other student-grade paints I have. I do like the box a lot. Very roomy and sectioned mixing area, and paints surprisingly do not bead up that much which is rare for a plastic palette. A Thumbs up for that 👍🏼. It comes with a brush. It may not be the one in the picture. I took it out and got it mixed up with other unused brushes I have. But I remember it looks like this one, decent but a bit too small. I probably not going to use it. Good thing is the brush slot is very roomy to fit all my regular watercolor brushes, which is not the case at all for most travel palettes. Also, I can see it is easy to swap colors if needed, such as the L’Aquarelle paints, or many other brands that offer paints in 10ml tubes. Overall, this is a good set for beginners.

This is a high quality brand of watercolor paint. I did not see anywhere that it is actually the student grade paint. If I had known that I would not have ordered it at this price. It is stated on the tube which is not evident from the photo or description that it is specifically STUDENT GRADE which has less pigment than the professional product which I thought I had ordered.

This is a nice set: three cool primaries and three warm primaries, Payne’s grey and burnt umber. The case is nice and makes traveling with the set easy. My only complaint is that the paints are student grade, so they are not as highly pigmented as the professional grade. I recently decided to take the set with me on a trip rather than taking various professional tubes because all the necessary colors are included and the case really is nice.

Yeah they are paints. I wouldn't recommend them, but it's up to you. I do believe it a better choice to just get primaries from daniel smith or primaries from white nights.

I did not realize these were student-grade. Did not realize how cheap they would feel when I bought them. I guess I will know now to read the fine print. Just wanted some cheaper watercolor to practice color mixing, but I cannot even do that with these; they are so opaque and act so ridiculously different from any professional watercolors I've ever owned that I really don't know what to do with them. To be honest, I will probably throw them away to keep from anyone else using them and thinking this is what "real" watercolors do. They don't. If you are seriously considering watercolor as an art, buy Winsor and Newton, Schminke, M. Graham, Daniel Smith or ask a local artist you trust. Do not touch these.

Superb set of watercolour paints , just amazing value for what you get . Yes these are student paints , however they are great quality and do not disappoint. I have purchased this set many times because they perform so closely to the professional sets . If you are a beginner, I don’t think you will find better student paints than these .

Just not floating my boat colour wise. Really basic/primary so lots of mixing needed. Nice quality paint but colours don’t inspire me. Im not a professional artist but I like sophisticated hues -my colour skill is not advanced enough to turn these into gold as yet

There is no black colour so to create it you need to mix the 3 primary colours (this is basic colour theory knowledge u can get from a quick YouTube video). The colours are so soft and smooth, they blend well when used with technique. The packaging is what attracted me to these I won’t lie😂It’s SO pretty, it looks like a vintage makeup box.
