Senior Product Manager, E-commerce Product Data
Remote | Full-time | USD 75-85k / year
Position Overview
Upstart AEC is hiring a Senior Product Manager for a full-time, fully remote role supporting an early-stage SaaS platform focused on transforming e-commerce product data into structured, enriched, and marketplace-ready catalogs.
This role is ideal for a hands-on product leader with strong experience in e-commerce product catalogs, SaaS environments, and customer-facing product delivery. The person will work closely with product leadership, engineering, QA, customer success, and customers to understand business requirements, organize delivery, and ensure the platform produces high-quality product data outputs.
The immediate focus of the role is customer delivery: understanding customer data needs, translating requirements into clear execution plans, coordinating distributed teams, and acting as a quality gatekeeper for product catalog outputs. Over time, this person will also contribute to broader platform strategy and roadmap development.
Key Responsibilities
* Partner closely with product leadership to support customer delivery and platform execution.
* Work with customers to understand business requirements, data sources, catalog needs, and expected outputs.
* Help evaluate what data is authoritative, identify messy or incomplete product data, and clarify requirements with customers.
* Translate customer needs into structured requirements for engineering, QA, and delivery teams.
* Drive delivery across distributed teams, keeping work organized, disciplined, and moving forward.
* Identify blockers, clarify ownership, and ensure clear next steps across active customer work.
* Bring structure to product and delivery workflows, including status tracking, team coordination, and agile execution.
* Review platform outputs and evaluate whether product records meet customer expectations.
* Assess product descriptions, product attributes, catalog quality, and overall usefulness of the data being delivered.
* Help ensure customers receive high-quality outputs that support e-commerce purchasing decisions.
* Contribute to the long-term product roadmap by identifying scalable product opportunities from customer delivery work.
* Support a fast-moving startup environment where customer needs may vary and some solutions may be bespoke.
Required Skills
* Strong experience in product management, ideally in SaaS, e-commerce, product data, or data platform environments.
* Direct understanding of e-commerce product catalogs, including product attributes, hierarchies, taxonomies, and catalog structure.
* Ability to understand how merchants, suppliers, or retailers use product data and why product attribution matters.
* Experience working with engineering teams in software development environments.
* Strong program or project management skills, with the ability to organize teams, drive accountability, and manage delivery.
* Comfortable working in fast-paced, early-stage, ambiguous environments.
* Strong customer-facing communication skills and ability to extract clear requirements from complex or messy conversations.
* Excellent English communication skills, especially written and verbal communication.
* Ability to review product data outputs with strong attention to detail and quality.
* Basic understanding of AI and LLMs, including how they may introduce variability in generated outputs.
* Strong ownership mindset; able to take work and run with it independently.
* Experience working with distributed or remote teams.
Nice-to-Have Skills
* Experience with AI/ML-based data enrichment, semantic search, recommendation systems, or LLM-powered product workflows.
* Experience with PIM, DAM, marketplace syndication, catalog normalization, or similar product data workflows.
* Experience using Jira or similar product/project management tools.
* Experience working with multi-brand, multi-category, large-scale catalogs.
* Familiarity with marketplace requirements across platforms such as Amazon, Walmart, Shopify, Wayfair, or similar channels.
