About Aegis Discovery
Aegis Discovery is an Agentic AI Security Posture Management (AI-SPM) and Identity Threat Detection & Response (ITDR) platform, built for identities that legacy security tools were never designed to see: AI agents, MCP servers, and other non-human identities (NHIs) operating across an organization's stack.
Our pipeline β€” Collect β†’ Normalize β†’ Correlate β†’ Fingerprint β†’ Score & Recommend β€” ingests signal from eBPF sensors, cloud connectors, repo scanners, and SaaS audit logs, and turns it into explainable, actionable risk scores for every agent in a customer's environment. We build on a deliberately open-source-heavy foundation β€” Wazuh, OSQuery, Semgrep/Opengrep, OPA, Presidio, Vector.dev, and the eBPF observability stack β€” rather than reinventing detection primitives from scratch, which lets us move fast without passing legacy-vendor costs on to customers.
Founded in Hyderabad and now building a globally distributed team, we're working on one of the most active, fastest-moving problems in security today: how do you secure an identity that isn't human, doesn't sleep, and can spin up a thousand copies of itself before lunch?
The Role
We're hiring a hands-on Postgres expert to own the data platform underneath our telemetry, correlation, and risk-scoring pipeline β€” architecting, running, and scaling self-hosted Postgres (TimescaleDB and Citus) as the backbone for high-volume agent telemetry, at production scale, with real disaster-recovery guarantees behind it.
This is not a "manage a managed service" role. You'll decide how the cluster is built, how it fails over, how it's backed up, and how it's proven recoverable β€” for a security product where data integrity and uptime are the product.
What You'll Own (Must-Have)
Distributed & time-series Postgres β€” top priority
* Extensive, hands-on experience running, managing, and self-hosting Postgres at scale on both TimescaleDB and Citus. These are two distinct deployment environments in our stack β€” we need real depth in both, not just one.
DR, BC, and recovery discipline β€” top priority
* Disaster recovery and business continuity planning: defining and meeting RPO/RTO targets, budgeting for DR infrastructure, and owning backup and restoration end-to-end.
Replication β€” logical is the higher priority
* Postgres physical replication and restore.
* Postgres logical replication β€” this matters even more than physical replication for how we operate; real depth here is essential.
* CDC pipelines, specifically Python-based logical-replication-to-ClickHouse CDC.
Permissioning and access control β€” most important
* Deep expertise in Postgres roles, policies, and permissioning models.
* Row-level security, implemented and maintained correctly in production.
Performance and indexing
* Performance tuning and index design/optimization specifically across Citus, TimescaleDB, and PostGIS β€” generic Postgres tuning isn't enough; we need someone who understands how these extensions change the indexing calculus.
Operational tooling
* pgBackRest for backup and restore.
* Patroni for HA cluster management, failover, and self-healing.
* Read replicas, point-in-time recovery, and full restore drills β€” proven runbooks, not just theory.
* Core extensions: pg_stat_statements, auto_explain and other auto_*-style telemetry extensions for long-running query visibility, plus other essential production extensions.
PostGIS β€” secondary priority
* Working knowledge of PostGIS for geospatial workloads.
Preferred Background
* Experience in the Internet, networking, or security industry, ideally with hands-on exposure to tools like Wazuh, and adjacent stack components such as OSQuery, Semgrep/Opengrep, OPA, Vector.dev, or Presidio.
* Deep comfort tuning Postgres at the Linux OS level β€” kernel/IO tuning, RDMA, and NVMe/SSD storage optimization for database workloads.
Bonus Points
* Experience running Postgres in Kubernetes, especially with the Zalando Postgres Operator.
* Production experience combining Patroni + pgBackRest as a single HA/DR stack.
Why This Role (Beyond Market-Standard Compensation)
* A front-row seat building the data infrastructure for one of the most active, fastest-evolving categories in security today: agentic AI and non-human identity security.
* Direct ownership of telemetry, feature engineering, and risk-modeling pipelines that feed real security decisions β€” not a downstream reporting layer.
* Architectural influence at an early-stage company: the platform decisions you make now become the foundation the whole product scales on.
* A modern, best-of-open-source security stack to build with, instead of a legacy monolith to maintain.
Logistics
* Location: Remote, open globally β€” minimum 4 hours of daily overlap with Eastern European time (non-negotiable).
* Type: Full-time.
* Experience: 10+ years in database administration / platform engineering, with substantial Postgres depth.
