A year ago, San Francisco photographer Anastasia Kuba decided to switch her artistic direction. The former dancer had been a boudoir photographer since 2008, but she was ready for something different. "The pictures that came out were really gorgeous, but they turned my stomach upside down because something was deeply wrong about them," Kuba tells SELF. What was wrong: Kuba felt the images didn't capture the real person in front of the camera.
So she raised money on Indiegogo for a new campaign entitled "Nothing But Light," in which she aimed to a diverse group of subjects, sans makeup, lighting, Photoshop—and clothing. She pitched the project for 60 subjects, but worried she wouldn't find that many. After posting her first request for people to pose on Facebook one night, she woke up the next morning to 60 interested people. She ended up shooting 80 for the final project.

Starting in April 2015, Kuba began hosting photo sessions in her studio to capture her subjects, devoting about three hours to each person. She says there was a mutual respect between both parties—the people could leave the project at any time and request specific snaps or all of their photos to be removed—and they could even turn the camera on Kuba, capturing her nude if they wished.
"It might not make that much sense why are people naked in the photos if you think about it on the surface, but it does," she says. "That’s them and that’s what they look like, and no one is wearing any makeup and I let people keep their jewelry on only if the jewelry was meaningful to them. But the light was natural and they weren’t posing. I wasn’t telling them what to do."
She also encouraged each subject to submit a statement to accompany their pictures, telling their story in their own words. The people pictured tell powerful stories of struggle, success, love and loss. The complete project, which is on her website , is stunning and empowering.

"This is a body positive campaign, no doubt about it," Kuba says. "To be loved is to be known, and to be known is to be open, and you have to show yourself which is incredibly hard to do if you feel things."

Decades before she was sporting designer dresses on the stage of the Republican National Convention as Mrs Trump, Melania Knauss posed nude in a photo spread for a now-defunct French men’s magazine, The New York Post has learned.
The Slovenian-born model — then aged 25 and known by her professional moniker Melania K — did the steamy photo session in Manhattan in 1995, according to Alé de Basseville , the French photographer who shot the sexy snaps.

The images, some rarely seen and others never published, were obtained exclusively by The New York Post.
The bombshell photos show Melania wearing nothing but high heels and pouting for the camera, in a series of images shot from the front, the back and the side.
“Melania was super-great and a fantastic personality and she was very kind with me,” de Basseville said, adding the former model never once felt uncomfortable posing for the nude pictures.
Melania’s sexy photo spread appeared in the January 1996 issue of Max , a French men’s magazine that went out of business in 2006.
“I was quite surprised when I saw the pictures because it was ... a racier shoot than I expected,” said a fashion-industry insider who was present for one of the photo sessions.
“But Melania seemed very comfortable with the whole thing, and she was very professional.”

For de Basseville, the inspiration for the pictures was the Renaissance and a celebration of the female body.
“I think it is important to show the beauty and the freedom of the woman, and I am very proud of these pictures because they celebrate Melania’s beauty,” he said.
At the time of the shoot, Melania had just recently arrived in New York City from modelling stints in Paris and Milan, Italy.
In Gotham she was booked for mostly commercial work and was later featured in an ad for Camel cigarettes, the source said.
When asked about the photos, Trump told The New York Post : “Melania was one of the most successful models and she did many photo shoots, including for covers and major magazines. This was a picture taken for a European magazine prior to my knowing Melania. In Europe, pictures like this are very fashionable and common.”
In 1998, Melania was introduced to Trump during a New York Fashion Week party at the Kit Kat club hosted by Paolo Zampolli, who was then representing Melania through his company ID Model Management.
The two wed in 2005 in a ceremony at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

Celebrity hackings that result in the sharing of nude or intimate photos online are becoming a disturbing norm. In the past two weeks alone, Emma Watson, Amanda Seyfried , and Demi Lovato were all targeted.
While a breach of a celebrity's privacy is newsworthy, the stars are far from alone. A 2016 report from the Data & Society Research Institute found that 4% of internet users, or one in 25 people, in the U.S. have been victims.
According to the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative , revenge porn, or, more accurately, nonconsensual pornography, can be defined as the "the distribution of sexually graphic images of individuals without their consent." It includes photos that have been stolen through a hack, as well as those sent within the privacy of a relationship.
If you're concerned that your own nude or private photos have been shared online, there's a way to find out — and steps you should take to remove them. You can search your name on Google and see what shows up, but a reverse image search within Google Image is a more precise way of looking for an image.
Go to Google Images and click the camera icon in the search bar to "search by image."
From here, you'll be able to paste the URL to an image or upload an image. The latter, of course, requires you to have the nude photo you're looking for in your camera roll or on your computer.
If you do find said nude or private photo in search results, you should document the photo immediately by taking screenshots of the full webpage where it is posted and the image search. You will need these to report the photo to Google, which you can do by filling out this form. When asked about the type of content you want removed, choose "a picture of myself." You can also call the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative's crisis helpline at 844-878-2274 to speak to a counselor.
