Sehr originell war der "Knotenbuchstabe" der Inkas - "kipu". Es bestand aus einer Schnur und Fadenanhängern in verschiedenen Farben und Schattierungen. Kombinationen von Farben und Knoten auf den Fäden ermöglichten es, die Kippa zur Berechnung von Steuern, zur Fixierung verschiedener historischer Ereignisse, zur Übertragung von Eigennamen und Titeln und sogar von einzelnen phonetischen Elementen zu verwenden. In einem der peruanischen Tempel wurde ein einzigartiger Quipu gefunden. Es wog 6 kg. Laut einem der maßgeblichsten russischen Forscher der Inka-Kultur, V.A. Kusmischtschew, so ein Knäuel könnte Moskau mit St. Petersburg verbinden und in Bezug auf die darin enthaltenen Informationen ein mehrbändiges statistisches Nachschlagewerk ersetzen.
Das Zentrum der Entwicklung und Bildung der Chib-cha-muisca-Kultur ist das Bogotinsky-Plateau (modernes Kolumbien). Die Zivilisation, die sich in dieser Region entwickelte (5.-15. Jahrhundert), zeichnete sich durch einen hohen Entwicklungsstand der Töpferei, Weberei, Kohle- und Smaragdabbau aus.
Wie in den anderen oben genannten Hochkulturen gab es eine deutliche Schichtung des Eigentums, die sich auch im Bereich der religiösen Mythologie niederschlug. Der Gott Chibcha-kum („die Unterstützung der Menschen von Chibcha“) war der Schutzpatron des einfachen Volkes, und der Gott Bochik war der Schutzpatron des Adels.
Einige Forscher glauben, dass die Chibcha Muisca die einzigen Menschen im alten Amerika waren, die Geld hatten, dessen Rolle kleine Goldscheiben spielten. Die Autoren, die vorsichtiger in ihren Schlussfolgerungen sind, bezeichnen diese Gegenstände als Schmuck, der nachgefragt und gegen eine andere Ware eingetauscht wurde.
Die Legende des sagenhaft reichen Landes Eldorado ist mit den Lebensräumen der Chibcha Muisca verbunden. Die Eingeborenen erzählten den ersten spanischen Konquistadoren von einem eigentümlichen Einweihungsritual in die Anführer eines der Stämme. Am Tag der Feierlichkeiten reibt der Aspirant den Körper mit Harz ein und bedeckt ihn dann mit Goldpulver. Die Stammesangehörigen begleiten diesen vergoldeten Mann, der auf einer kostbaren Trage liegt, zu einem Bergsee. Er taucht, wäscht die Vergoldung ab und damit ist der Übergangsritus vollendet. Die Teilnehmer der Prozession werfen Gold und Edelsteine in den See. Und wie viele solcher Zeremonien hat es in Hunderten von Jahren gegeben? Und so entstand der Mythos über ein unbekanntes Land und seine unermesslichen Reichtümer, genannt El Dorado, was auf Spanisch „vergoldet“ bedeutet.

Seit fast einem Jahrhundert, seit den 1930er Jahren Im 16. Jahrhundert wurde zunächst in den Regionen Kolumbiens und Guayanas sowohl nach dem „vergoldeten Mann“ als auch nach dem See mit unzähligen Reichtümern erfolglos gesucht. Die verführerischen Luftspiegelungen von Eldorado zogen nicht nur die Spanier, sondern auch die Deutschen und Briten an. Schließlich wurde ein See entdeckt, an dem angeblich das oben beschriebene Ritual durchgeführt wurde, dessen Tiefe (120 m) sich jedoch als unüberwindbares Hindernis für Glücksritter jener Zeit herausstellte.
Die britische Version von Eldorado ist in erster Linie mit dem Namen des legendären Walter Raleigh verbunden, Seefahrer, einer der Anführer der Niederlage der spanischen „Unbesiegbaren Armada“, Dichter, Dramatiker, Historiker. „Großer Abenteurer“, „berühmter Inspirator von Kampagnen“ – diese Sätze, die in der Forschung ausnahmslos neben seinem Namen stehen, sind sicherlich wahr. Mit Eldorado ist er nicht nur durch die Tatsache verbunden, dass er 1595 auf der Suche nach diesem magischen Land in Guayana ankam, sondern auch durch das Buch „The Discovery of the Vast, Rich and Beautiful Empire of Guyana“, das im folgenden Jahr veröffentlicht wurde .
Als eine Person mit einem gut entwickelten kreativen Anfang hat Raleigh viel in der Legende von El Dorado spekuliert, entwickelt und transformiert. In seiner Interpretation wird der König von Guyana zu einem vergoldeten Mann, der mit seinen Höflingen Orgien veranstaltet. Diener mussten bei Orgien alle Teilnehmer entkleiden, "von oben bis unten mit weißem Balsam einschmieren" und mit Goldpuder bedecken, bis "bis die Gäste von Kopf bis Fuß zu glänzen beginnen und in dieser Form in Gruppen sitzen und trinken zwanzig und hundert Menschen und führen diese Beschäftigung manchmal sechs oder sieben Tage hintereinander fort.
Raleigh versuchte, dem "authentischen" Namen des Territoriums auf den Grund zu gehen, das die Spanier El Dorado nannten. Der von ihm gefangen genommene Gouverneur Berreo teilte dem Engländer mit, dass die Eingeborenen El Dorado keinen anderen als Manoa nannten.
In der Kartographie hatte Manoa ein glücklicheres Schicksal. Wenn El Dorado nie auf einer der Karten erschien, dann tauchte Manoa (Berreo nannte es eine Stadt) erstmals auf einer Karte von Südamerika auf, die 1598 vom niederländischen Kartographen Jodoc Hondius zusammengestellt wurde, der mit Materialien aus Raleighs unveröffentlichtem Manuskript arbeitete, das aufbewahrt wird im Britischen Museum.
