EPIC has its first anniversary - we are already 5 years old!
The Mission of "Eco Packaging International Company" is to meet the needs of our customers in keeping their products and to assist in the promotion of their products through the use of our advanced market knowledge of modern technologies and international experience in the production of environmentally friendly packaging.
The history of "Eco Packaging International Company" started in 2013 with the decision made by an international group of professionals in the paper industry, headed by Mr. Yves Thiery, to combine their efforts and to begin the production of environmentally friendly and modern pulp molded packaging in Russia. The main objective was to enter the market with finished products through acquisition or alliance with one of the manufacturers of paper packaging as soon as possible. As a result, it was decided to unite with the company, which began egg tray production in the summer 2013 in Gatchina, Leningrad region. New modern building and equipment, all required energy communications, large area, professionally trained staff was used as a reason for the union.
This is the way "Eco Packaging International Company" started its existence. Mr. Alexander Mikaelian, who has years of experience in managing large paper factory, was appointed a General Manager.
Mr. Sergey Shvedkov was appointed as a CEO of the company, having a solid experience as Commercial Director of one of the largest Russian poultry farms and well versed in the needs of the egg industry in the package. Mr. Yves Thiery, the initiator of the company creation, was appointed the President of the company..
Egg packaging market was selected by "Eco Packaging International Company" as a main strategic direction, since this sector of the market has been using packaging made of pulp molded paper, but badly in need of new types of packaging to replace outdated - Russian and expensive - imported . The key to the expected success of the company in technical terms was attracting a group of European experts for design, engineering and technology study of equipment and processes. The company's management decided to upgrade an existing production line in order to expand the range and improve performance.
In January 2014 this upgrade has been successfully carried out.
The first result was the beginning of modernization of production 30-piece egg tray "Mini" because of its prevalence in the EU and the ever-increasing demand on the Russian market. This package is mainly used in hypermarkets – spotted on a pallet display of goods.
The second and key step was the development and start-up production of two types of premium packaging, a brand name «Majestic» -10 chicken egg cartons and a package for quail eggs for 20 pieces. Modernization of the factory was in April 2014 and already in May began the production of this product, which is in high demand on the Russian market. An important option, for Russian buyers of premium packaging, was the opportunity to paint the packaging itself in different colors. To meet the packaging of the world's quality standards, it was decided to purchase modern equipment for labeling. The new, most modern "Labeller", with has a capacity of up to 1.8 million labels glued on the packaging, was purchased in the United States. As planned, the quality of packaging exceeded not only Russian, but also known foreign analogs. After the launch of "Majestic", our company immediately became known to the majority of the largest poultry farms in Russia. This allowed for further growth.
Further, the company's management decided to focus on the mass segment - the production of affordable egg packaging for 10 eggs, which in recent years, due to the active development of retail in Russia, began to outpace 30-piece egg trays. For this purposes, in 2015, a new line with a capacity of up to 3.5 million packages per month was purchased and launched. To achieve maximum quality parameters and compliance with the world's leading manufacturers, a new printer was launched from the world's leading manufacturer of this type of equipment, along with a new production line. Now it is possible to apply up to ten colors on the cover of the package and up to two colors on the inner surface of the cover. The printer's performance was up to 200 pcs in a minute! The new package was named "Ecoplus".
The fourth stage in the development of our company is the purchasing in 2016 of another high-performance line for the production of two types of packaging: the already known and very popular on the market packaging "Ecoplus" - with a printing on the cover and a new package called "Smart" - with a self-adhesive label. To apply the label, another new specialized line was purchased and installed with a capacity of up to 1.5 million labels per month. The new "Smart" was a breakthrough on the market because the prolonged recession in Russia somewhat reduced the demand for Premium packaging, and the emergence of "Smart" - medium-price packaging allowed us to occupy a new market niche.
At the begginig of 2017, after reaching the maximum capacity of all lines, our company confidently ranks the third place in Russia for the production of small-piece egg carton packaging. In 2017, we are focusing on developing new markets. Now, in addition to the Customs Union countries, our packaging can be found in the Baltic countries and Poland. Despite the highest level of competition in the EU countries, the demand for packaging from EcoPackaging International Company is steadily growing on this market.
In 2018, the company's management plans to expand new foreign markets also with new products. For this purpose, it is planned to purchase another high-performance line. After launching new equipment, our company will be the second largest producer of retail egg packaging in Russia, and will also take a strong position in connection with the diversification of our sales markets.

In the end of September, our company has put successfully into operation fully automatic labeling machine with option of inside egg carton printing and highly efficient printer for three-side egg carton printing. New foreign high technology equipment will provide to increase product output for our customers.

By entering into the League, we hope to contribute to the solution of environmental problems in the area of recycling of waste paper, as well as improving the legal framework in the industry of collection and recycling of packaging waste.
Non-commercial partnership "Waste paper processors League" is a division of RAO "Bumprom", which in turn represents the interests of the major players in the paper and packaging industry in Russia.
