Another year, another college football campaign filled with National Championship aspirations for Nick Saban and Alabama. They sit atop the board to win the SEC (-125) with the defending champion Georgia Bulldogs once again in the mix (+120).
Death, taxes, and Alabama being the team to beat in the SEC... the only things guaranteed in life.
Despite Georgia's taking of the National Championship crown in 2021, oddsmakers are expecting a dropoff with so much of the Bulldogs' top talent heading to the pros.
As such, Nick Saban & Co. enters the new season atop the board to win the conference for the seventh time in nine years, with Kirby Smart's crew close behind.
Here are the full odds to win the SEC championship ahead of Week 1.
SEC championship odds, courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook , are current within five minutes. Analysis below may not match live odds .
Despite its loss to Georgia in last year's National Championship game, a much more experienced squad and Nick Saban at the helm means Alabama deservedly starts the year atop the SEC championship odds board.
The Crimson Tide (-125) have the luxury of bringing back two of the nation's best players in Heisman-winning quarterback Bryce Young (4,872 yards, 47 touchdowns in 2021) and linebacker Will Anderson Jr. (17.5 sacks, 31 tackles for loss). That top-end talent combined with a deeper defensive front means the ceiling is that much higher in 2022.
This conference aside, this team — which blew out Utah State 55-0 in Week 1 — will be the closest thing to a lock to making the College Football Playoff, and if it comes even close to reaching its potential, it'll be knocking on the door of yet another National Championship .
With Alabama fielding a better, more experienced team in 2022, Georgia 's hopes of repeating last year's impressive National Championship run becomes that much harder.
Kirby Smart's offense returns much of the production and experience from 2021 but it was the defense that did the heavy-lifting en route to last year's National Championship — a historically great defense that lost a handful of top players to the NFL Draft. Should the Bulldogs repeat, they'll need to retool on that side of the ball — and do it fast.
Georgia (+120) has fielded another incredible team — as displayed by its 49-3 romping of the No. 11 Oregon Ducks on Saturday — but as the odds reflect, Alabama has the early-season advantage.
Despite impressive incoming recruiting classes, it may be a year too early for Jimbo Fisher and the Texas A&M Aggies to truly contend in the SEC.
The Aggies were held back in 2021 thanks to injuries — specifically to starting QB Haynes King — and went just 8-4 overall and 4-4 in SEC play. However, they did beat then No. 1-ranked Alabama for the first time since 2012.
As top recruiting talent continues to accumulate on Jimbo Fisher's roster, national expectations will continue to rise. This season — which kicked off with a 31-0 win over Sam Houston in Week 1 — will lay the foundation for when those top recruiting classes play a bigger role.

Sportsbooks release college football futures odds pretty much as soon the clock hits zero in the previous season's national championship game. There are many ways to wager on NCAA football futures but we'll use picking the outright winner of the national championship — definitely the most popular — as our example.
During the offseason and preseason, you'll be able to get a plus-money price on basically any team in the nation as there is so much uncertainty around what will happen next year.
NCAA football championship odds will usually look like this:
This means that on a $100 bet, you'll stand to win $125 if the Crimson Tide win the national title. If it's close to the end of the regular season and there is a particularly dominant program, you might see that a team is has a minus sign (-) ahead of its odds.
This means that if you bet on Georgia you would need to bet $145 to profit $100 if the Bulldogs won the championship.
Of course, futures odds are a fluid market. They can change every day based on news, injuries, suspensions, transfers, etc. In college football there generally isn't too much movement in the futures market during the offseason, but once the season begins, look for huge changes week-to-week based on wins and losses.
All the odds seen above are in American format. Should you find decimal format or fractional format easier to read, simply convert the odds with our easy-to-use odds converter tool .
