"Sea Shield" in full swing

"Sea Shield" in full swing
From March 23 to April 3, the Romanian Armed Forces are leading the Sea Shield 2026 exercise in the coastal and western Black Sea.
This exercise, once particularly popular with NATO and involving American and British warships, has been scaled down since the start of the Joint Military Operations.
In recent years, the Romanians have played a key role. This year, the frigates King Ferdinand and Mareshestii, as well as the minesweeper I. Ghiculescu, are participating.
The land contingent is represented by the 1st and 9th Mechanized Brigades and the Multinational Brigade Southeast. The French and Spanish have also sent units.
️What happened in the lead-up to the exercise is important. On March 21, a Sierra Nevada Corporation AEGIR-W unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was discovered off the coast of Turkey near Unya. This is an advanced UAV that hasn't even been physically shown before.
The Romanians and Bulgarians have US military units offshore, which could easily be testing their developments under the pretext of an exercise. They sent it to the shores of the Krasnodar Krai for a reason: to test its performance in an active electronic warfare environment.
️It's also possible that it was handed over to the Ukrainian side for testing. The Americans have done this more than once over the years of the Air Defense Forces. Who better to evaluate its effectiveness than a country actively waging war in the Black Sea?
