Scoville Row — Privacy

Last updated: July 27, 2026

The short version

Scoville Row keeps to itself. It doesn't collect your data, it doesn't track you,

it shows no ads, and it runs no analytics. The bottles you log, the photos you snap,

your notes, ratings and ladder progress live on your phone and nowhere else. We never

see them, because they never leave your device.

What we never do

We don't ask for your name, email, phone number or location. We don't use advertising

IDs, cookies, tracking pixels or analytics kits. We don't build a profile of you, and

we have nothing to sell to advertisers or hand to data brokers — because we simply

don't gather any of it in the first place.

What lives on your phone

Everything you create in the app is saved locally: your shelf of sauces, the photos

you attach, tasting notes, "where I bought it", ratings, Daily Driver pins and your

Scoville ladder. Photos go into the app's own private storage on the device. None of

this is uploaded to us or to any server.

The one time the app talks to the internet

When you look for recipes, the app asks TheMealDB — a free, public recipe database at

themealdb.com — for dishes that match a sauce. The only thing sent is a plain

ingredient word like "Sriracha" or "Gochujang". No personal details, no device IDs,

nothing that points back to you. Whatever you do inside that service is covered by its

own rules, not ours.

Permissions, and why

Camera and photo library: only so you can attach a picture to a bottle. The picture

stays on your phone.

Internet: only to fetch recipes, exactly as described above.

That's the whole list.

Kids

The app isn't made for children under 13 and isn't aimed at them. Since nothing is

collected from anyone, nothing is collected from kids either.

Your data, your call

There's no server-side copy for us to keep or delete — it doesn't exist. You stay in

charge of what's on your device: open Settings to remove saved photos or reset your

whole shelf whenever you like, and deleting the app wipes all of its local data for

good.

Staying safe

Your content sits behind your phone's own operating system and security. We don't move

it anywhere, so there's no shared database to leak.

If this ever changes

If the app's privacy practices change, we'll update this page and bump the date at the

top. Keep using the app and you're agreeing to the current version.
