Scissor Sisters were the global glam-rock phenomenon who sold more than six million copies of their debut album before eventually fading into obscurity.
And now, frontman Jake Shears has finally opened up about why the band fell apart.
The 40-year-old, who is charting his own path and currently touring his solo album, revealed to news.com.au that he just felt it was time the band stopped making music together.
'There's no bad blood': Scissor Sisters' Jake Shears reveals why he quit the band... as he gets ready to tour Australia with Kylie Minogue (Scissor Sisters pictured in 2003)
Speaking to the online publication, Jake said that there was 'no bad blood' between himself and the rest of the band - Ana Matronic, Scott 'Babydaddy' Hoffman and Del Marquis.
'We had a good run, something in my soul just said it was a good time to put it down,' he said.
'We'd done everything we set out to do, it was mission accomplished in a way. Sometimes I think it's better to step back on a high note than run something longer than it needs to.'
Jake, who is currently living between New Orleans and Los Angeles, says his solo album is the natural progression to Ta-Dah! - the second of four studio albums the band released.

'One of my goals with this record was that it be viewed in the same body of work as the Scissor Sisters. I feel it is my body of work.'
The revelation comes as Jake is set to commemorate his five-year bond with Kylie Minogue, 50, by performing as a guest in her upcoming Golden album tour in Australia.

I Dont Feel Like Dancin“).
