First published on Fri 23 Jul 2021 21.58 BST
An 11-year-old girl who went missing from her home in Greater Manchester has been found in London, police have said.
Fatuma Kadir, from Bolton, was discovered on Saturday afternoon. Police had been searching for her since Friday, after it was reported she had travelled to the capital overnight.
DCI Paul Rollinson from Greater Manchester police said: “She was found in London earlier today so we are now working to reunite her with her parents, who are, as you can imagine, incredibly relieved.”
Appealing for their daughter to return home quickly, her parents said she left home without their knowledge on Thursday night and travelled on several trains to arrive at Euston station at 1.13am on Friday.
Before she was found, the schoolgirl’s parents, Asheem and Misra, had said they were in a “state of shock” following her disappearance.
Fatuma was reported missing just before 10.45pm on Thursday night. After inquiries, she was found to have boarded a train from Manchester Piccadilly at 9.27pm to Birmingham New Street before getting on to another train from there at 11.10pm to London Euston.

It comes after Scotland recorded another record number of new coronavirus cases, with 7113 people testing positive for the first time.
It is the fourth time in a week the record for new infections has been broken, as the Scottish Government warned the situation is “fragile” and said further restrictions could not be ruled out.
Scotland's new figure has topped the previous high of 6835 which was recorded on Friday.
Scotland has recorded another record number of new coronavirus cases, with 7113 people testing positive for the first time.
It is the fourth time in a week the record for new infections has been broken, as the Scottish Government warned the situation is “fragile” and said further restrictions could not be ruled out.
New cases have more than doubled in a week, although the figure released on Sunday includes some tests taken more than 48 hours ago due to backlog and delays in the testing system.
The number of patients in hospital with recently confirmed coronavirus infections has also risen for the ninth consecutive day, reaching 507, with 52 in intensive care.
A further 17,655 vaccinations were carried out in the past 24 hours.
Of those, 3233 were first doses and 14,422 were second doses, taking the totals to 4,101,311 and 3,655,287 respectively.
A Scottish Government spokesman said: “The case numbers continue to be a cause for concern and our current situation remains fragile.
“As the First Minister said in her statement last week, it is vitally important that everyone plays their part in limiting the spread of the virus by observing the key public health measures.
2,730,029 people in Scotland have been tested for #coronavirus The total confirmed as positive has risen by 7,113 to 420,622 The number of deaths of people who tested positive remains at 8,111 Latest update ➡️ https://t.co/bZPbrCoQux Health advice ➡️ https://t.co/l7rqArB6Qu pic.twitter.com/vALqmP03QO
“Those who are eligible, and have not yet done so, should get vaccinated as this remains the single most important thing we can do to keep each other safe.
“We should all be testing regularly as this makes it less likely that the virus will be inadvertently passed on to others.
“And basic steps like wearing face coverings on public transport, keeping a safe distance from others and opening a window if you have someone in your house for ventilation can also play a key role in breaking off chains of transmission.
“All these measures can help ensure we maintain the progress that we have made, and to keep on living more freely.
“No one wants to see a return of formal restrictions, but we cannot rule anything out as cases continue to surge.”
Jamie Alcock took on the 12-week charity journey to Elgin to remember police officer John who died after 14 years in a coma.
A farmer has travelled 650 miles from England to Scotland by horse and cart to raise funds for those who cared for his late brother.
John Alcock, who was involved in royal protection duties, died after 14 years in a coma. He was in a police car accident while travelling to Ballater in Aberdeenshire in 2003.
He required constant care but died in 2017 – aged 54.
His brother Jamie has just completed a gruelling 12-week journey from his Gloucestershire home to Elgin – raising nearly £50,000 for Police Care UK and The Fire Fighters Charity.
The 55-year-old was greeted by hundreds of supporters as he arrived at the town’s Cooper Park with his two Shire horses, William and Millie.
Jamie’s charity challenge had been delayed due to an accident involving his beloved horses.
Multiple injuries left him needing urgent hospital treatment in Dundee.
“I’d broken every bone on one side of my rib cage,” Jamie told STV News. “I’d cracked four vertebrae. I fractured my shoulder blade and suffered a collapsed lung.
“All I do know is it wasn’t the horses’ fault.”
Arriving in Moray, Jamie admitted he had mixed emotions.
He said: “There’s a sadness. I love being out on the road with the horses but mostly I’m happy.
“We’ve done what we came to do and I hope that the charities think we’ve done them proud with the money that’s been raised. But, then, that’s thanks to the general public – not myself or the horses.”
He thanked the many people who made donations, either online or in person.
Expressing his gratitude for Jamie’s efforts, David Hamilton of Police Care UK said: “The police family lost a very precious member. With what Jamie’s done here, we’ve gained a new member of the police family and for that we’re really grateful.”
Among the welcoming committee in Elgin was John and Jamie’s sister Rachel Rennie, who was delighted that Jamie had overcome horrific injuries to complete the journey.
“We never thought he would have the ability to keep going but the level he’s gone to and the pain he’s been in, and how fantastically well he’s done, words can’t describe how proud we are of him,” she said.
Millie and Willam will have an easier journey home.
Jamie said: “They’ll be transported in a lovely posh lorry and then they’re in for a decent rest, and they deserve it.”
Police say 'targeted attack' of John McGregor is being treated as murder.
A father-of-five who was shot in Glasgow has died in hospital and police are treating his death as murder.
John McGregor, 44, was found seriously injured on Westray Street, Milton, at around 7.55pm on Thursday night.
He was taken to hospital in a critical condition and died on Saturday night.
Police say the shooting is being treated as a targeted attack. The investigation team are also looking into the possibility of a burnt-out vehicle being linked to the incident.
A white Vauxhall Corsa van was found on fire on Etive Crescent, Cumbernauld, at around 9.50pm on the night of the shooting
Detective Superintendent Raymond Brown, of Police Scotland’s Major Investigations Team and senior investigating officer, said: “I want to appeal directly to the community and wider public who might have information that could help.
“There were people in the street at the time of the attack, including young children, and I would ask people to think about this if they have so far been reluctant to come forward. We need your help to solve this.
“I would ask anyone with information about the incident on Westray Street, or the Corsa van that was found later that night, to contact us.
“I would appeal to any motorist in either of these areas who may have dashcam footage to contact us.”Any information, no matter how small, could be crucial.
“Detectives have set up an online portal to encourage members of the public to submit information.”
The Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) is a website that gives the public access to a form so they can send information directly to the major incident teams based at the Scottish Crime Campus and can be accessed here: https://mipp.police.uk/operation/SCOT21S26-PO1
Police can also be contacted by calling 101 and quoting incident number 3276 of Thursday, 26 August, 2021.

The first Old Firm game of the season brought a win for the champions.
Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou’s first Old Firm fixture ended in defeat after Filip Helander’s second-half goal gave Rangers a 1-0 win over Celtic at Ibrox.
The cinch Premiership champions, again with boss Steven Gerrard and several players missing through coronavirus issues, had a let-off in the first half when Hoops striker Odsonne Edouard missed a sitter before Gers attacker Ryan Kent hit the woodwork.
Rangers stepped it up after the break, however, and in a match played with no away supporters in the stadium, Light Blues centre-back Helander headed in from a Borna Barasic corner in the 66th minute to settle the game.
Former Australia boss Postecoglou took over as Hoops boss in the summer and has rejuvenated Celtic, but again they fell short against their city rivals who have won six and drawn one of their last seven meetings.
A difficult week for Rangers ended on a massive positive.
The Ibrox side had been struck by Covid-19 problems ahead of their successful Europa League play-off tie against Alashkert on Thursday.
Allan McGregor, Jon McLaughlin, James Tavernier, Scott Wright, Calvin Bassey and Kent were all missing in midweek but the latter had reportedly been injured, and he came back into the side.
Attacker Kemar Roofe returned after his European ban, while Leon Balogun came in at right-back.
Third choice Gers keeper Robby McCrorie appeared in his first Old Firm derby, as did Hoops debutant Josip Juranovic, the full-back signed from Legia Warsaw.
Gers striker Alfredo Morelos volleyed over the bar after two minutes before Celtic went on to control most of the first half.
Japan forward Kyogo Furuhashi curled a shot over the bar in the 19th minute and six minutes later his cross found Edouard six yards out but the ball came off the French attacker’s heel and sped well wide.
Then Kent curled a shot from outside the box past Hoops keeper Joe Hart only to see it clip the outside of the right post.
Rangers looked sharper at the start of the second half and began pressing Celtic back which re-energised their supporters, who took the roof off when Helander rose above fellow Swede Carl Starfelt inside the Hoops penalty area to head Barisic’s corner past Hart.
With Ibrox still cheering, McCrorie had to quickly race from his line to deny Furuhashi.
Both benches made changes. Celtic midfielders Ismaila Soro and Tom Rogic came on for David Turnbull and Edouard before Roofe was replaced John Lundstram.
The Light Blues kept pressing and Morelos almost got on to the end of a Kent pass but slipped at the vital moment inside the box before he was replaced by Fashion Sakala.
In the 85th minute McCrorie stuck out a leg to block an angled-drive from the ever-dangerous Furuhashi and Rangers survived a couple of nervy moments before the final whistle.
