Synopsis:
Scenes From a Cell is simply that, a series of scene set-ups mostly brought to us by convict Candice Cordet (Lanny Barby) at the Andrew Dworkin Correctional Facility for Women.
Audio/Video:
Scenes From a Cell is presented with an English 2.0 Stereo track which sounds fine for what is presented in the movie. There is one point where the actress in a scene gets a little too loud, but that is the only issue that I could find with the audio. There are no foreign language tracks or subtitle options presented for the feature film.
Scenes From a Cell is presented in the anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of approximately 1.85:1. The packaging says that the movie was shot in high-definition, however something went wrong with the transfer or master used for this disc. There are places where the bit rate is slightly too low causing pixels to show up, most noticeably in Paulina James and Jay Ashley's sex scene and Lanny Barby, Austin Kincaid and Charles Dera's sex scene. There are also places in the film where portions of the background lose definition, most noticeably in Kayden Kross, Lily Paige and Alan Stafford's sex scene. Other than these issues there are no problems with the visual aspects of the movie, however neither of these is minuscule and does affect the enjoyment of the movie.
Special Features:
There are a few extras included on the disc. Most relate to the feature film, with the exception of the bonus scenes. If the bonus scenes used up too much room causing some of the mastering problems I'd have preferred to see them dropped. There is a behind the scenes featurette that lasts for almost 10 minutes and shows a bit of the various aspects of the making of the film and some clowning around. There is a photo gallery on a track showing roughly 41 photos. There is a text biography of Lanny Barby. There is a positions room, which allows you to see clips from the scenes with five various sexual positions. There are also five bonus sex scenes; one from Foreplay with Lanny Barby and Sascha, one from Hard Time with Kayden Kross and Steven St. Croix, one from The Houseboat with Angela Stone, Poppy Morgan and Steven St. Croix, one from I Love My Ass with Paulina James and Sascha, and one from Pipe Dreams (2007 version) with Austin Kincaid and Justine Joli.
Disc Design/Navigation:
The disc opens with an advert for an 800 number which is easy to skip over and get to the menus. The menus are animated with porno sounding music that look nice and are relatively easy to navigate, with the exception of the Lanny Barby biography which is buried. There are 6 chapters available from the chapter menu. Each one is identified by a video clip and a scene name. There are 64 chapter stops within the feature film itself. There is a time code encoded on the disc for the feature film.
General Review:
Scenes From a Cell is fun, as one might expect from a movie that names the prison after an anti-pornography crusading feminist, and never seems to take itself very seriously. Going into the movie I was expecting a feature film, as the box says A Chuck Lords Feature, however the film is more of a vignette style outing that is exactly what the title says, scenes from a cell. There are five different mostly unconnected scenarios presented in the movie, all which obviously lead to a sex scene as this is a porno. Although for the most part there is no connection between the scenes, other than the characters remaining the same and they all occur in the same correctional facility, the vignettes all flow together nicely to make a solid end movie.
The sets and locations used in the movie are great and fit the movie. The roof that was used fits well, with the exception of the fact I highly doubt real prisoners would be allowed on a roof they could jump off of and the interior sets were well designed with the one questionable bit of set dressing, what appeared to be a mattress propped up against the shower room wall. The costumes used were excellent. The prisoners are all dressed in scrubs, which I've always felt are sexy as hell, and the guards appear to be wearing California correctional facility garb.
The sex scenes presented in the movie are excellent. They don't contain any edgier acts, in fact about the edgiest they get is a brief bit of anilingus in one of the scenes, that doesn't mean that they aren't hot or enjoyable. The actors and actresses appear to be having a great time during the scenes. The actresses in the film all look hot and about the only complaint I have in the sex department is that they could have let Aurora Snow go slightly further with Angela Stone before pulling her out of the room and starting the scene with Lanny Barby and Angela. The sexual themes in the film are vaginal sex with lesbianism, female masturbation, pussy eating, pussy fingering, blow jobs, squirting, and anilingus. Nobody uses condoms in any of the scenes.

Parting Thoughts:
Despite the problems with the master and the fact that this is more of a vignette movie than the packaging indicated, Scenes From a Cell is a highly enjoyable venture. If you don't require circus acts or performers put in the hospital to enjoy a porno flick than you should give this one a go. It's worth the money and I suspect will be watched more than once.
