The Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen USB Audio Interface is a great mixer for anyone looking into getting into high quality audio production or creation! As someone who has been using the Shure MV7 for quite sometime around 6-9 months with zero background in audio production and finer audio equipment I had been using the USB option for the device which while solid didn't demonstrate the quality of the MV7 in terms of audio production. For example I've used my microphone mostly to voice chat in games and create videos for school and hobbies while the mic was always solid once I got a true mixer with its hard to say I'll ever go back to using a simple usb cord as when I was testing it out my friends and myself were stunned by the dramatic increase in quality and when editing I noticed how well it captured my own voice as well. Overall I would recommend the Scarlett Solo for anyone whos getting into audio production or those with more expertise in the field as its simple to use as it requires only a USB-C cord to unleash its full potential!

An old buddy of mine who's a working musician had pointed me to a band he'd recently discovered. I told him I liked their overall sound, but the mix sounded terrible (some peculiar flanging sort of background sound). He asked me if I had decent speakers? I said, sure, downstairs connected to my AV receiver. He recommended I get an Audio interface and a pair of powered monitors (I got the KRK Rock-Its) and to let him know how much better all music sounded (not just this one band). I'd had external computer speakers in the past, but they were never much better than the built-in stuff, so I thought I'd try googling 'best audio interface' and 'best powered monitors' and noticed that this came up high on most of the top 5/top 8/top 10 lists and decided to give it a try (since I'm just listening, not mixing or dj'ing or podcasting, I got the Solo). Got it and hooked up the speakers and got stuck listening to music for a couple of hours...the imaging...the soundstage...all that stuff I had forgotten about...way better. Also much easier to understand podcasts/video lectures now). Highly recommended!!

I needed a replacement for my Line 6 Helix Floor as it started smelling of burnt plastic and would no longer turn on. Replacing what is now a $1700 device with a $100 audio interface has honestly not been bad. I have a pretty powerful computer with a modern motherboard and 5900x 12 core cpu, so maybe thats why but I Have literally no latency at all its really quite wonderful. I am probably just going to get some Neural DSP amp/cab sim software as they offer free trials and I'm extremely happy with the quality I'm getting for what is a tenth of the money.

This lil box sure packs a punch! Use it with my audio technica 2040 and use both the included ableton & 3 month trial of Pro Tools. Wish there was a faster way to download all of the plug ins all at once instead of signing up for a dozen different accounts but after some work you'll have a bunch of stuff at your service

REVISED REVIEW: I'm an easy customer. The thing works, I'm happy. Thing doesn't work, I'm unhappy. The Focusrite worked out of the box (YAY!). Then it has issues (BOO!). Then I resolved said issues (YAY!). Now it works as expected. Has this device been a walk in the park? No, not really. There are some tweaks you need to make to your computer (See Update 7/7/2020 & 8/21/2020). With that said, I have been using my Focusrite LITERALLY every day. I have a Rode NT1 attached and I use that for video conferencing, recording vocals for my band GreyHalo, for podcasts, and for playing only D&D with family and friends. It's been a huge asset in this online life, and I have to say .. I'm happy I got this. While I originally said I would hard pass in the future, I've decided I LIKE my Focusrite 2i2. It's nor perfect, but from what I've read on other audio interfaces, nothing is. My son has a PreSonus AudioBox USB 96 2x2 USB Audio Interface and we've had to do some tweaking to his laptop to get it to work as expected. I realize that it's impossible for any company to know how everyone's computer will work with their hardware. So would I recommend this again? Yes, yes I would. And in fact, I have. And with that, I've also told them the tweaks I've made and how to do it so they can get faster results. I still have latency in my DAW of choice (Reaper), but that's something I'll have to resolve in the DAW. Not Focusrite's fault. But I've used some pretty hoity-toity VST/VSTi with this Focusrite 2i2 and it's handled everything like a champ. I'm not disappointed one bit in my purchase. And in the future, when I need something beefer, you can be sure I'll look to Focusrite once more. UPDATE 8/21/202: OK! After scouring the interwebs, I think I found out the issue with crackling in certain software (Discord, Facebook video, Steam chats). It turns out most of those software requires a higher sample rate. I had my Focusrite set at 44100, which was the default that the audio interface started at. HOWEVER, if you put it at 48000 with a buffer size of 192 then the crackling is gone and you can use any software as excepted. UPDATE 7/7/2020: After finally getting through to customer support (took some time) I have finally fixed the issue. It's actually a USB issue. Windows has a feature that puts USB devices to sleep, and for some reason does not see the audio interface as an active device even if it's being used. Which is weird and frustrating. Once I disabled the option it's not had any issues. The lack of star is because it took so blooming long for them to get back to me I almost abandoned all hope. However, since I had it fixed I recorded several songs with no issues. Lord willing my music career will finally see some fruition. Is it worth the purchase? For the price, yeah it's a decide device. I do wish I would have gotten the Presonus as it has midi in, but I think if you don't have a need for midi this is a solid device that should last a while. ONE last issue. Latency. If I can use Guitar Rig with my guitar in real time that would be great. But I haven't figured out if that's because of my DAW (Reaper) or the device. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I'm going to start this off by saying I work in IT. I'm also not new to the recording world as I've used other products in the past. So I know my way around buffer sizes and sample. With that said, I'm going to flat out say that this has been nothing but a pain in my neck. I bought the Scarlet 2i2 with the intention of recording voices for games and animation, as well as podcasts. Since the quarantine order, I've used it for video conferencing with work. And, it works. I have a Rode NT1 and everything sounds amazing. HOWEVER, the driver will crash constantly. I'll be watching a video, and it will just stop working. I'll be in the middle of a conference call, and it will crash. It's crashed while recording a podcast. It's crashed while recording a video. It just .. crashes. And the only thing I can do is force it to restart by changing the buffer size. Then it kicks back in and I'm good for a while. It's beyond infuriating. There are no errors in the event log. All the drivers are up to date, as far as I know. Except the Focusrite website is always seems to be down. My computer is more than powerful enough to run this relatively simple device. I really want to like this, and I really want to recommend these to my friends who also are looking for hardware for recording their own podcasts and videos and so on. In this time of isolation, people are looking for professional solutions to record good audio. This interface ... I'd do a hard pass.

This is my first experience with a UAD. My purpose for purchasing it was to practice guitar at my computer. It was a bit of a learning curve, but once I worked out the latency issues, it worked seamlessly. Most of the time, I use standalone plugins and I am very pleased with the sound. I did not regret my purchase, and I do not anticipate needing anything else in the near future unless it falls apart.

I'm just using one port for now, but it's nice to have the expansion capability. TBH, I preferred on-unit controls more than the software controls, and it does prevent me from using it in some scenarios, (I have a solo just in case) but it's been great so far!

Style: Solo (1 Mic Pre) Pattern Name: Interface Verified Purchase

I had a 1st generation that I used for nearly a decade before upgrading to this. The 1st gen still works completely fine, and I expect this new one to last just as long. I use this mostly for gaming and listening to music, but occasionally playing/recording guitar. It works flawlessly.

USB Driver Installation Not Simple

Style: Solo (1 Mic Pre) Pattern Name: Interface Verified Purchase

I'm an IT professional and even I struggled to install the software. My mistake was to plug in the Scarlett Solo to USB before installing the software. DO NOT DO THIS because Windows will then search Windows Updates for drivers and then get into into mess which won't be solved when you go to install the downloaded Focusrite Control software and USB driver. That will hang for a very long time and maybe not complete at all. Follow these steps: 1. Download the FocusRite Control software 2. Right click and Run as Administrator 3. Select either Full Installation or one of the specific USB/Thunderbolt options 4. Accept to install each of the the USB and/or Thunderbolt driver. This might seem to take a long time installing the drivers but leave it to get on with it. 5. Reboot your computer and wait for the Focusrite Control window to come up saying "Hardware Not Connected". 6. Now plus in the Scarlett Solo and WAIT while Windows goes off and searches Windows Updates. This may also seem to take a long time but be patient. 7. If all is well, Windows will come back saying device is ready, having linked the driver to your Solo and Focusrite Control will show the Solo configuration options. 8. Lastly, it is advisable to go to your Windows Playback Devices, and in the Properties of the Focusrite Usb Audio, go to the Advanced tab and untick the option to "Allow applications to take eclusive control of this device". Having gone through this learning curve for a couple of hours, I'm very happy with the sound quality. The earth hum and other unwanted noises I was getting from my older 1st generation Scarlett is no longer present.

Avis d'un amateur avec un DT770 250 Ohm

Style: 2i2 (2 Mic Pres) Pattern Name: Interface Verified Purchase

Might be good if it worked.

It's a nightmare to get working. Bought to replace an old Roland Quad Capture for better sound quality. Spent 3 hours trying to get t to work. Then called Focusrite support who weren't that. Left a message. By the next day they hadn't called back to called again. Spent 2 hours on support and eventually got it just about working. The management software is useless and very unintuitive. The Roland software runs rings around
