ScanSort Privacy Policy

ScanSort

Last updated: 15 September 2026

ScanSort (package name com.scansort.scan_sort) is a document scanner app. This policy explains what data the app uses, what stays on your device, and what third parties may collect.

1. Who provides the app

ScanSort is provided by the developer listed on the Google Play store listing for this app. For privacy questions, use the email address shown on that listing.

2. Data stored on your device

By default, your scans stay on your phone. The app stores:

  • Scanned document images and PDFs you create
  • Text recognized from those pages (OCR)
  • Titles, folders, tags, and other organization details
  • App settings (theme, language, export preferences)
  • An optional PIN in the device secure storage, if you turn lock on

This information is saved in local storage on your device. We do not require an account, and we do not operate a ScanSort login server.

3. Permissions

  • Camera — to capture pages. Photos are used only for scanning.
  • Photos / files — to import images or PDFs you choose.
  • Internet — to load ads and, if you enable it, optional cloud OCR.
  • Biometric / fingerprint — only to unlock the app on this device, if you enable it. Biometric templates stay in the operating system; the app does not receive your fingerprint or face data.

4. On-device scanning and OCR

Cropping, filters, and default text recognition run on your device using on-device libraries (including Google ML Kit). Scanned pages are not uploaded for this default OCR path.

If you turn on cloud OCR and add your own Google Cloud Vision API key, selected page images are sent to Google Cloud Vision so text (including Bangla) can be recognized. Google’s processing of that data is covered by Google’s Privacy Policy. Do not enable cloud OCR if you do not want images sent to Google.

5. Advertising

ScanSort shows banner ads from Google AdMob to keep the app free. Google and its partners may collect device and advertising identifiers, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, and similar data to serve and measure ads.

Learn more in Google’s Privacy Policy and how AdMob uses data. You can reset or limit your advertising ID in Android settings.

6. Sharing, export, and cloud options

Export, share, and print happen only when you tap those actions. Files leave the app through the share sheet you choose (email, Drive, messaging apps, and so on).

In-app Google Drive, Dropbox, and ScanSort Cloud controls are optional and do not currently upload your documents to our servers. If that changes, this policy will be updated first.

7. Children

ScanSort is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Retention and deletion

Documents remain on your device until you move them to Trash and delete them, or uninstall the app. Trash items may be kept on-device for a limited time before permanent deletion. Uninstalling ScanSort removes local app data unless you previously exported a copy.

9. Security

You can enable PIN, biometric unlock, and optional encrypted storage on the device. No method of storage is perfectly secure. Protect your phone with a lock screen.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of ScanSort after an update means you accept the revised policy.
