Say "Yes" To These 5 Fridge Freezer Samsung Tips
Samsung Fridge Freezers With SmartThings
Samsung's Family Hub refrigerator is a 389 litre fridge with an 225-litre freezer. It's an American-style large model with a quality temperature control system as well as a host of clever features.
It's customizable using removable panels, so you can design one that is perfectly matched to your collection of tie dye Crocs and matte black Rick Owens clothing.
All-Round Cooling
In fridges with All Round Cooling, separate cooling circuits are used to keep your food fresher. In conventional fridges, a single evaporator cools the freezer and refrigerator compartments. This often means that the low humidity air from your freezer is transferred to your fridge, and it could cause your food items to dry out. This can make them taste bland and unpleasant.
With All-Round Cooling, each shelf has multiple vents which circulate cool air. This allows for a more consistent temperature, even when you shut and open the fridge door.
Optimal Fresh zone keeps meats and seafood fresher up to two times longer than in conventional refrigerators, and does not freeze. This feature is a game-changer for anyone who loves to cook but doesn't like the hassle of thawing frozen meat or fish.
All Round Cooling utilizes the cooling plate made of metal at the back of the fridge to hold the cold air and stop it from escaping when you open the refrigerator door. Frydge reduces the need for power defrosting, saving you both time and money.
Samsung refrigerators have one of the best ice makers we've tried. Its patented Twist Ice Maker dispenses large cubes in a single twist, and it can be kept in the drawer below when not in use. This makes more space on the shelf and makes it easy to locate your favourite beverages and snacks.
You can decide how your freezer and fridge open by using Reversible Doors. This lets you easily integrate your fridge into the kitchen layout while keeping your fridge tidy and neat.
Samsung's Family Hub is the central control for your SmartThings-connected home. It has a large touchscreen mounted on your refrigerator. It can display a live video feed from your smart doorbell, order groceries in accordance with an automated inventory or suggest recipes that use what you have in stock.
The flex drawers that are located on the bottom of Samsung refrigerators are a clever storage solution that make it easier to store larger items such as canned drinks or trays of pizza. They can be flipped down when not in use, and they can be folded flat to take less space. This is a fantastic feature for those who love to bake and cook but are limited in their fridge storage space.
FlexZone
The Samsung FlexZone side by side fridge freezer is unique in its 3-zone system that allows you to add an extra refrigerator compartment or freezer drawer. This allows you to modify your fridge freezer to suit your needs and storage requirements. The FlexZone module allows you to upgrade your fridge to a bigger or smaller size by incorporating an extra FlexZone.
The sleek design of the fridge can be a perfect match for any kitchen design. The stainless steel finish of the fridge is elegant and sturdy. It also has an anti-fingerprint coating to keep the surface looking new. The fridge comes with an external water and ice dispenser to make it even more efficient.
This fridge has an FlexZone bottom-right compartment that can be converted from freezer to refrigerator. This lets you keep things like ice cream, bags frozen vegetables, meat, or fish in the freezer. It also performs well in our tests, however the 21.5-inch touchscreen's superfluous applications and lack of SmartThings or voice control integration make it seem like a missed opportunity.
There's plenty of space to store food items in the rest of the fridge with two drawers for crisps and a flexible middle FlexZone drawer. This drawer lets you choose among five different settings, based on the needs of your fridge freezer compartment. There is the freeze setting that is compatible with the freezer settings, the soft freeze setting for wine or deli trays, a meat and fish setting as well as the beverage setting for drinks, snacks and frequently accessed items.
This Samsung FlexZone side by side refrigerator is perfect for families who wish to have a fridge and freezer in one unit. It's smaller than top-of-the-line French door models, however it has plenty of useful features and is a great alternative for those with little space in their kitchens.
Samsung Fridge Freezers are also very energy efficient due to their digital inverter technology. This technology regulates the temperature inside the fridge, so that it doesn't fluctuate too much and keeps your food fresher for longer. Its energy efficiency has earned it an ENERGY STAR certification.
SmartThings
SmartThings isn't quite the same platform that Alexa and Google Assistant are, but it does have many smart devices that you can add. Samsung's TVs, phones tablets and fridges all have SmartThings. It may be enough for some people especially if they own multiple Samsung products.
The SmartThings application is very polished and well rounded It comes with a 'if you do x, then y' automation feature that performs surprisingly well. You can set up things such as an alarm that goes off when water leak sensors detect the presence of a flood, or turn on lighting when your phone detects you're at home. It can also control your fridge if you connect it to a smart socket however, we've had mixed results with that.
SmartThings requires a hub which isn't expensive. Samsung offers a range of options, including the SmartThings Station that you can attach to an existing router and use it as an nightlight. There's also a more affordable SmartThings Hub Dongle that can support Z-Wave and Zigbee and Thread with support coming soon.
Once you've connected your smart fridge to your phone and hub, it is extremely simple to use. The SmartThings app lets you manage your fridge from any location with notifications sent to your smartphone whenever it's open or closed. You can create schedules, alter the temperature, and even set reminders.

SmartThings was one of the founding members of the Home Connectivity Alliance. This alliance is working to make major home appliances made by different manufacturers compatible. In the future you could control your Samsung washer/dryer, Electrolux oven, and LG TV through the same app.
SmartThings isn't as well-known as Alexa or Google Assistant but it does have some big names on its list, such as Arlo Nest, Belkin, and Lifx. It's compatible with the Matter protocol, which allows accessories to be paired regardless of brand. For most people, however, merged Alexa and Google Assistant voice controls is most likely the best option.
Family Hub
This refrigerator freezer is the most modern one you can find. It comes with an LCD display of 21 inches built into the door, as well as a host of intelligent features. You can access entertainment apps, write notes for family members (think the size of a notepad that is stuck to the fridge), check weather updates, and much more, all thanks Samsung's own voice assistant, Bixby.
The touchscreen also lets you to manage your food and recipes, with the ability to add ingredients directly from an app for recipes and view what's in your fridge through internal cameras. You can make a grocery list while on the go and monitor foods to track their expiration date. You can use an app for recipes to read out the instructions while cooking.
This is the second generation of Family Hub fridges and Samsung claims that it's spent the past year adjusting them to the needs of customer feedback. You can now create distinct profiles for every member of your family to allow them to customize the information and apps they have access to. It's not as good as having Alexa integration built into your refrigerator however it's a step up on last year's model.
Family Hub is not only an application for managing groceries and entertainment It also manages Samsung's SmartThings platform. It can onboard Matter-compatible devices, like lights, plugs and locks and allow you to use the touchscreen to control them as well.
Samsung's fridge has been around for a while and, although it has a lot of functionality, the touchscreen smarts don't really stand out as an essential feature for many people. They're more fun, and somewhat frivolous accessories than anything else.
This could change as more software updates are released, but for the moment these models are best for those looking for the most complete connected fridge that is possible. You can save money by buying an appliance that does not include the Family Hub if you're not one of these people. It could be worth it if you have a lot of smart home devices that need to be controlled by the same device, or if you simply like the idea of a fridge with a giant touchscreen.
