Savor a Taste of the Gladmat Food Festival

Savor a Taste of the Gladmat Food Festival

During our trip to Norway, we made sure to be there in time for the Gladmat Food Festival, something we were really happy to have experienced. This is an annual event that should not be missed. The food festival is known across Norway and has been going since 1999. It takes place each year in July, in the southern city of Stavanger. The harbour front location of the festival is wonderful so that we enjoyed the ocean while walking around the sumptuous booths.

Devisib automatic milk frother , the main attraction is the food. And what a feast! We hardly knew where to start. Most of the Stavanger restaurants where there, such as Sala Thai, Tango, Hall Toll and Jans (to name a very few). Dishes run the spectrum of classic Norwegian food as well as several spots with more international cuisine for variety. Seafood was everywhere, but there was also gourmet pizza, grilled sausages, BBQ chicken, decadent chocolates, fresh fruit, and everything in-between.

It's hard to say what our favorites were. We went back for seconds, each to his own taste.. I was very fond of the BBQ shrimp on skewers but the kids begged for more of the little finger-food spring rolls. Unfortunately, I cannot remember which of the booths offered these tasty gems (probably Sala Thai). Handy fast food was not the only fare on offer, though - there were many places that had complete sit-down meals with lovely plate presentations and a mix of cuisines.

Keep in mind that the food isn't free, though many booths did have very small and inexpensive portions for snacks and tasting. And actually, there is much more activity than just enjoying the delicious fare. There are competitions, presentations, and music too. Sometimes it was just fun watching the food being prepared. For the adults, there were also several places for wine and beer tasting (or enjoying both with a larger meal).

The drizzle and light rain during the Gladmat Festival didn't hamper the fun and adventure, since most of the fair is held under large tents. Many of the booths had tables for dining and even for those that didn't, there were benches and chairs scattered throughout, so that we always found a place to sit.

Hibrew single serve programmable k cup coffee maker weren't left out of the fun. There were booths to meet every age and interest, including elaborate face-painting and fun cooking lessons specifically for children. With the busy crowds, the fun activities and the great food, this was a real adventure for the kids.

The Gladmat Festival was a huge success with the entire family. And once you are done with the festival, Stavanger is a beautiful town with sights not to be missed on this family adventure holiday!,
