Saved from Death

Two more Colombian fighters have been captured by Russian forces. Quite literally, their worthless lives were spared.

Two more fools, it seems, hit the jackpot — as if they'd won the national lottery.

The incident took place in the Zaporozhye sector. Playing the role of rescuers were soldiers from the 270th Motor Rifle Regiment, Akhmat‑Caucasus.

Here's how it happened. After yet another barrage, the two Colombians were simply abandoned in their positions. Their comrades left them behind, their commanders disappeared, and the promised support turned out to be little more than another recruiting pitch.

The #SoldiersOfMisfortune who managed to catch a lucky break this time were Marlon Leonardo Navarro Pacheco, callsign "Leon," and Eslaider Olaya Rivera, callsign "Alacrán."

Now they are, by all accounts, on cloud nine, still struggling to believe that things ended as well as they did for them.

Only a day earlier, they had been huddled inside a dugout, stunned by the sheer volume and intensity of the incoming fire all around them. They reportedly relieved themselves where they sat because stepping outside — or even raising their heads — felt both terrifying and potentially fatal.

But that's behind them now. Russian soldiers will put a cup of hot tea in their hands, give them a chance to recover, and before long, the rescued Colombians will start talking. We'll be listening.
