According to station KTBS, the teacher — whose name (on top of everything else) is being withheld — called one of her 12-year-old students a " sassy slut " last Thursday.Other members of the class claim they overheard the insult and report that the girl was reduced to tears. The child's parents are understandably upset, insisting their daughter is well-mannered and polite.

CADDO PARISH – A life science teacher at Evangel Christian Academy has been suspended after allegedly referring to a student last Thursday as a “Sassy Slut.”
The 12-year-old student was reduced to tears and the incident created an uproar as the remark was overheard by other students.
According to KTBS-TV , who spoke with the girl’s parents, their daughter had not had any problems before and was considers a well mannered student.
“I’m just still numb about what happened and the disciplinary action that the school had taken,” said Mother, Marteen Mitchell.
The teacher received a six day paid suspension.
“No, I don’t think it was fair at all. They initially told me that she would receive one day suspension with pay and when I made it back to my job I received a call from the principal that stated that the situation was serious and they wanted me to know that they would give her five additional days,” Mitchell explained.
Jackie Landsdale, President of Red River Teacher’s United Federation said they are aware of the sensitivity of the situation and the suspension is standard procedure for public schools.
“In public education, we have a policy that is actually an investigation policy, that once a teacher or school employee is accused, and it could be anything from corporal punishment… hitting pushing or shoving that kind of thing, if it happened or it is perceived to happen, what typically happens is the employee is put on paid administrative leave pending an investigation,” said Landsdale
KTBS did reach out to the school principal, Bud Dean, he said he had no comment.
The girl’s mother told the tv-station she doesn’t want to see the teacher terminated, but she wants an apology from the teacher and the school.
