Sarah Silverman has spoken out about her battle with depression and admitted she once became a drug addict to deal with the issue. During a recent discussion on the Bill Simmons Podcast, the comedian and actress admitted her depression led to her losing a role in an upcoming film (please people, talk to someone even if it’s the Samaritans if you ever feel in a dark mental place).
If this podcast didn’t exist, you could talk for hours about what’s happening with Hulu, how she’s coming out of the studio, and so much more, including what she called “the most important moment of my life” – is what was said in the interview with Al Franken. The most dramatic moment came when she was asked why she wanted to use her show as a platform to share the complicated feelings surrounding her mental health issues and personal life, after admitting her own struggles with anxiety and depression in the past.
I want people to hear about one of my comedians, I want to have more conversations with them, and I want to have more of a conversation with each of them.
Sarah Silverman and her sister, Susan, discussed all things Jewish in a talk sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York City (JCRN). Sarah may be the most famous of her sisters, but Susan is incredibly articulate, intelligent and funny. Klepper knows what she is saying: “It’s a rambling discussion, peppered with a bit of humour and a lot of respect for her husband, a rabbi.”
Nearly three decades of standup have thickened her skin, and as a comedian and troll she’s seen heckling and seen everything.
She has been accused of racism more than once, including in an incident in which she wore a black face on the “Sarah Silverman Show,” and she was accused of being insensitive to race issues, countering that it was racism, not race, that she was actually making fun of.
One insane take on this by a detractor was: “By casting herself as the victim, while simultaneously making cruel ethnic jokes and attacking the same comedy and malice with the emptiness of her personality, she is trying to protect herself from prosecution. She plays the bigot, the self-conscious, unaware of the effect her jokes will have.” which is basically ignoring reality in order to throw shade.
She was hired by Saturday Night Live in 1993 and appeared on the show, parodying her own failure in one episode. However, after a single sketch she had written, it was broadcast and never appeared again. Still, Silverman held out and appeared on a number of other shows, including The Daily Show with Bill Maher before being given another shot, this time as a regular on Saturday Night Live.
On to Sarah Silverman Program – the show featured a fictionalized version of Silverman’s life and she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for her portrayal. The Sarah Silvermen podcast was born, and the first episode remains one of my absolute favorites. In 2013, she won an Emmy for best screenplay in a variety special for We Are Miracles.
Sarah Silverman, who is bestowed with a Distinguished Alumna Award, was raised in Bedford and went through graduation in 1989, but the beginnings were clear before she graduated from NYU, when she went to NYU and spent most of her time there grabbing opportunities for stand-up comedy. She first appeared in stand-up comedy in her late teens, but later realised the performance wasn’t going well. The New York Times for its portrayal of an insensitive, unsympathetic woman, and then she became the lead in her own series.
Silverman can be rude and disrespectful, but she is also increasingly unashamedly political and surprisingly serious. Absent from the total – frontal – love-hate relationship, her promised new show offers a chance for reinvention. The new Sarah is most clearly an improved comedian: she has been freed from shallowness and comedy, to a sassy woman with an attitude, reflected in her comedy.
There is a danger of the Internet age, especially for comedians like Silverman: it is easier than ever to cause offence and take offence. In a GQ profile last year, the comedian admitted that the political climate had changed her as a person, but also as a comedian. Rather than doing or saying things that cause controversy, she said the new climate has had a profound impact on how she presents her jokes and remarks.
“When I decided to launch a comedy interview podcast in early 2019, I was the only one I wanted to be the first guest. And of course I made the podcast Sarah Silverman Podcast, which has given me life since I was a comic that goes back to my 18th year and was born, from comic to comic, from an 18-year-old to a 30-year-old woman.”
The above pics are from an Emmy’s interview where Sarah was worried about her tits falling out of her dress, and had to adjust her boobs live on air to keep from doing a titslip or nipslip on live television – or maybe she just wanted to grope her breasts in front of everyone watching, as she admitted after that she was stoned at the time, ha! Either way those big tits were out on parade, thanks Sarah!
Oh, and here are the extra rude pics of her vagina 🤩😜
The nude full frontal of Sarah Silverman’s pussy – thanks, Sarah!
