If you conduct interviews with those trans women, you will probably find that most of them were sexually abused in childhood, and given how common that is in Brazil, especially in the Northeast Region, it´s not surprising to find many women with sexual conflicts due to past traumas willing to change their physical appearance.

After this brief summary I do not think it is really necessary for me to make a long answer since the basics is already there. Brazil is a beautiful country to visit so for years foreigners have come here to know the country, coming here they will notice that we, Brazilians, deal with sex with less pudor than his fellow countrymen and they are interested to know how it is to have sex here so they would pay for it, starting to generate an economy around sex. People have their deep secret sexual desires that sometimes they have to look elsewhere to fulfill them, some like anal sex, others footjob and some like transgenders.
Let it be clear that I do not say that all Brazilian transgenders are prostitutes, of course not, but since we have an informal economy around sex tourism and people would do anything to have a job, and that job in specific do not pay badly, people would do it.
There is also the thing about “cheap surgery”, I might be a little off here because I do not have expertise on the subject, but I think that before going under a procedure, the transgender would have by them dressed as a woman before, not necessarily as a drag queen, but tried out women’s clothes to see how it suits them. What makes you think that there aren’t people that don’t do that in the rest of the world? The difference lies on the next step, the surgery, which is cheap in Brazil, and not only that, the person does not have to pay upfront, they can pay in instalments, and if there is something that Brazilians love is instalments, whereas in other countries it can be really expensive and not everybody can pay for such a procedure.
One thing that is worth mentioning is that, even though Brazil might be known as a country with a great transgender population, that does not reflect that all Brazilians accept them. Graphic images have emerged of a badly beaten transgender prisoner amid reports police 'pulverized' her face, forced her to strip and shaved her head.

But an investigation is now underway amid reports she was set upon by officers on three different occasions after being taken into custody, leaving her face unrecognisable.
Pictures appearing to show her ordeal were leaked online and have sparked outrage across Brazil.
An official police statement claimed Bolina was attacked by prisoners when she was seen performing a sex act on herself in her cell and that officers were forced to intervene.
It added that the injuries were the result of a struggle in which, police claim, she bit an officer on the ear.

One supporter, Susane Montalvo Sarabia, said: 'It is just sickening that in this day and age such things as this still happen.
'They have pulverised that poor woman's face and are now trying to cover it up. Whether she is innocent, guilty, transgender or straight doesn't matter.
'The police should not be allowed to do this to anyone.'
Authorities in Sao Paulo say they are now investigating the matter.
A spokesman for the prosecutors office said she had been moved to a detention centre where she has an individual cell until the court case.
Brazilian police officers kill on average six people every day according to the Sao Paulo-based Forum on Public Safety.
The NGO collated figures between 2009 and 2013 which showed police killed more than 11,000 people.
In comparison, police and law enforcement officers in the United States took 30 years to kill 11,000 people.
According to a report released by the organisation: 'The empirical evidence shows that Brazilian police make abusive use of lethal force to respond to crime and violence.'
However, Brazil is an incredibly violent country with one murder approximately every ten minutes.
Many of those killed by Brazilian police are recorded as being shot 'while evading arrest'.
