The Proposal (out June 19) not only marks Sandra Bullock's first romantic comedy in nearly five years. It also is the first time the actress, 44, had to shoot a nude scene.
"Sadly, my first and last nude scene got laughs, so I had to be very secure with that," she said Sunday at the film's press junket. "It was all about choreography. I mean, literally when you read it on the page, you saw it, and then you realized, 'OK, there is no way to shoot this unless you are buck naked!' Then I went, 'Go to the gym, cut out the carbs!'"
The scene — which involves a naked run-in scene with costar Ryan Reynolds — took three days to film and over a dozen takes. "I'm glad it made people laugh," she said. "Shooting it was odd. There are things stuck to areas that generally you don't have things [stuck to]. I mean, you have things covering [your body], but not stuck to it. And then they got unstuck, and oddly we didn't care because we were so tired."
Added Reynolds, "Yeah, at that point, shame is gone completely. The weirdest part is calling your mom nude on set: 'Hey, just checking in!'"
The Proposal is Bullock's first romantic comedy since 2005's Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous. "I stopped doing them," she said. "They are terrible, they are bad. They are not funny, so they shouldn't be a romantic comedy and most of the time they are not romantic. So they shouldn't be called a romantic comedy. They should be called that other kind of film."
She said she refuses to call The Proposal a romantic comedy. "It reminds me of the films from like the '30s and '40s where there was a landscape and a story and drama was allowed to be in there," she said. "You can't have good comedy without drama in it. And they don't generally write well for women in romantic comedies."
"I love my comedy too much to bastardize it with bad romantic comedy," she went on. "So I was like, 'I'm going to find another way to work and do it in a way that I love.' So I'm not calling this a romantic comedy."

Sandra Bullock’s Stepdaughter’s Porn Star Mom Makes Her Case For Custody
Jesse James recently told his porn star ex-wife and mother of their daughter, Sunny, not to drag Sandra Bullock into their custody battle. But Janine Lindemulder, who previously accused Sandra of “take away my daughter” is speaking out once again. Life & Style released the following statement:
The fight has just begun for Sandra Bullock as she tries to save her stepdaughter, Sunny, from her porn star mom, Janine Lindemulder. Sandra and hubby of four years, Jesse James, were awarded primary custody of 5-year-old Sunny back in January, just after her biological mother was sentenced to six months in prison for tax evasion. Sandra has since come to love Sunny and is raising the girl as her own. But along the way, she’s engaged in a verbal war with Janine — who she alleges is a dangerous and unfit mother — in a bid to gain full custody of the child. “It’s like I’m invisible,” Janine told Life & Style in an exclusive interview on Dec. 4. “I want us all to be on the same page. Sandra and Jesse want all or nothing.”
Since being released recently, Janine has tried to regain a presence in her daughter’s life, lately at a tear-filled court mediation on Nov. 30 and again at the court appearance on Dec. 7. But Sandra and Jesse are determined not to let that happen, alleging in a letter written by Sandra to the judge that Janine abuses drugs and is negligent around Sunny. Although Janine denies those allegations, she is currently allowed to visit with Sunny for only six hours every Sunday. “I’ve stopped working like I used to in order to be here with Jesse and the kids [Jesse also has two older sons with his first wife, Karla James],” Sandra says, “because we’re on constant high alert, never knowing what condition Janine will be in and, even more concerning, the condition Sunny will be in.”
The positive impact Sandra has had on Sunny’s life is something even Janine freely admits. “Sandra’s organized and focused, and I’m pretty much the opposite,” Janine tells Life & Style. “She packs perfect lunches. She thinks of every little detail from sunblock to sanitary wipes and the perfect amounts of food. I can’t compete. If I could wish any stepmom for my daughter, it would be Sandra.” Still, even if it would mean having that wish granted, Janine’s unwilling to be cut out of Sunny’s life. “All I care about is that my daughter gets love from as many different sources as possible,” she insists. “Sandra’s doing a great job, but I’m not going anywhere,” Janine tells Life & Style.
“We’re fully prepared to accept the responsibility and make Sunny’s transition as healthy as possible,” says Sandra. Janine, who has flaunted her body in more than 100 porn films, feels the same way. “I’m not saying I’m the best mother in the world,” she tells Life & Style. “What I can give her is dancing in our feety pajamas, making pancakes and being goofy. I’ve got love to give her.”
