Voltage OS offers users a unique experience with Sandboxed Google Play Services to protect user privacy and conserve battery life.
This Sandboxed Play project is created and maintained by Graphene OS, we just have implemented this in Voltage OS, thanks to open source ✨
Why Should I use Sandboxed Google Play Services instead of normal GApps?
Google Play Services in Sandbox mode are designed to be less resource-intensive than regular Google Apps, therefore leading to less battery consumption.
Google Play receives absolutely no special access or privileges, which allows for increased privacy for users.
How to use this awesome feature?
- Just flash the rom, no need to flash gapps.
- Install Graphene OS Apps: https://github.com/GrapheneOS/Apps/releases/latest
- Install Google Play Services and Play store from there.
- That's it you are done, for other setyp you will get graphical dialogs and stuff.
Is it reliable as GApps?
Sandboxed Google Play is close to being fully functional and provides near complete compatibility with the app ecosystem depending on Google Play.
Only a small subset of privileged functionality is unavailable but most of the things work perfectly.
