This is the complete opposite of the all inclusive resort that can often be found in the DR. Their place sits over looking a river with beautiful mountains all around. The rooms are simple, but very clean. Due to their location, Casa Conrado is powered by solar and hydro, soon , but Konrad still makes sure you get hot water for a shower and internet. The half day trip out of Santo Domingo is totally worth it! We highly recommend going to see Konrad and Miguelina to enjoy a simple mountain experience full of great views, tasty food, good conversation and so much more! This is a great place to stay if you want to experiance a very rural part of the DR. The location listed is quite different than the actual location. We had to make arrangements to stay somewhere else halfway through our stay because of how out of the way it was to get to this place. Conrad was very accommodating and prepared us a lovely breakfast. Overall I would say it was a good price for what was offered. He is a great guy. We would stay there again. Great for sleeping in nature to the tune of the waterfalls below. My husband and my parents booked this property for our Thanksgiving get away. The property is beautiful and as described. If you do not know Spanish do not be intimidated and not go. Just use Hidden by Airbnb translate! Euri, Hilda and Papo are wonderful people. They do not know a lot of English so definitely use Hidden by Airbnb Translate. Euri is an excellent driver! We did not do a lot of the trips this time. We loved the property so much we just relaxed. We did go to Las Salinas and took a boat ride to see the Flamingos. She made the best ribs we have ever had. We were able to buy fresh caught lobster and we loved how she prepared it. Then she made us Paella with the leftover tails she had and shrimp for our Thanksgiving feast. I do suggest having a grocery list and an idea of what you would like her to prepare each day before you get there. It will help you buy your ingredients at the store as well as let Hilda prepare your delicious meals easily. We really enjoyed the outdoor shower. The Sonos sound system is really great and we enjoyed being able to play different music at different areas of the property. We can not wait to go back sometime! Communication with Edmundo was very fluent and the house manual plus instructions on how to get there were very helpful, he chatted with us via Hidden by Airbnb almost everyday to find out how was everything and made sure we had everything we needed. Grounds are perfectly maintained and well kept. Outdoor bathroom is a ZEN place we all loved to spend time in, specially my husband and I at night with the candles on for a romantic moment. We had great entertainment options, such as tennis, basketball, badminton. We enjoyed kayaking with the kids and our dogs. We had 3 staff caring for all our needs, Eury was the handy man who took care of everything around the house and all our necessities; HIlda a sweet and always willing lady who cleaned the house, cooked and everyday greeted us with freshly made acerola dominican cherry juice from the property orchards, and last but not least, Papo the gardener and pool keeper, who also prepared for us a bonfire night, in which we roasted jumbo marshmallows. Again we can go on and on about Hacienda Los Guayacanes, but to wrap it up: I cannot begin to express how fantastic this place is! The home is tiny and I was worried at first about the size, but we were only indoors to sleep. The outdoor areas are absolutely breathtaking! We spent all of our time outdoors enjoying the paradise that Edmundo and his staff have thoughtfully created. Edmundo was wonderful to work with, answering questions and helping us plan our trip long before we even arrived. The kids had so much fun on the property they never wanted to leave to go do other things. We used the sea kayaks, snorkel sets, and tennis court daily. The best snorkling was right off the end of the dock! Be sure to wear water shoes, there are sea urchins around. The property also has fishing gear and my son fished all day every day the entire week! Euri, Darkis and Papo are exceptional and trustworthy. They cater to your every need and truly care about making your experience wonderful. Euri was our driver and spent time fishing with our boys. He was incredibly kind and helpful. Darkis prepared all the meals and was so sweet! She would go with us to the grocery store and was a huge help around the house. She was such a sweetheart with our children and went above and beyond with meals. Papo was out every day maintaining the grounds and built a bonfire for us at night on the beach. The staff really became like family for the week we were there. Brush up on your Spanish or download a good translator app, they do not speak English. Having music playing all over the grounds was so much fun. The grocery stores take credit cards, but get some Pesos so you can buy fruits at the local markets and leave your staff a good tip. After a week of staying in the cut in the crowded older part of Santo Domingo, it was the perfect unbelievably relaxing few days - just what we needed! Beautiful home, perfectly manicured grounds, purified drinking water available on tap a HUGE luxury , dreamy sound system, sweet pool, kind, lovely, laid back staff who kept us comfortable but also left us to ourselves exactly as much as we needed, and no one for miles around! We slept like babies. We certainly plan to return! This hacienda was the escape that we needed. Euri, Dora, and Papo were amazing. The grounds were so beautiful you will be taking a million photos during your stay. Sitting out on the dock in the swinging chair and reading my book as the sun rose was the perfect start to my days. We just spent 2 weeks at los Guayacanes, it was me, my husband, my mother in law and our three little boys, 7, 6 and three years old. We were looking for peace and quiet and a place to spend time with each other and we were not disappointed! The property is beautiful, The staff is very friendly and helpful, my poor spanish helped us to communicate a little bit but we relied on 'internet translate help' most of the time. We spent most days around the property and were not looking for any big trips, we had everything we needed right there! We used the kayaks a lot, and we snorkeled, picked sooooo many shells or played in the pool. At night we played tennis or cards and listened to music. The mosquitoes did not bother us very much at all but I am happy we brought repellant for the kids. Edmundo was a great host and was always available if we had questions. This was excactly what a Swedish family needed in the middle of our winter and we are so happy that we chose to go here and spend long relaxing days together. We hardly saw any people at all besides a few guys that were out snorkling to catch octopus or fish and they were so friendly and showed the kids what they had caught. We even got to see dolphins that swam by our pier one morning. The traffic was horible but Euri did a good job! We truly recomend this place if you want a piece of paradise all to yourself!! The home was perfectly set up to meet our needs with a large kitchen, meeting areas, plus private rooms and bathrooms for each of the families. The only problem we experienced was a communication fail between the home owner and the on-site caretakers. When we arrived on our check-in day the house was not cleaned and the pool had been drained. The caretakers had not been informed of our arrival. We are thankful for their hard work in cleaning the house and pool as quickly as possible for us. Even still, it was an uncomfortable first afternoon. I would suggest to call ahead of time! All that said, the rest of our stay was wonderful. The caretakers were hardworking and attentive. The location was beautiful, secluded and quiet. The pool was wonderful! We would return! The grounds are meticulously maintained and Gerard is the perfect host!! Gerard is a great host. His wife makes an excellent breakfast. It has a private beach and pools. Nestled in the mountains of Rancho Arribe this is a must see, especially if you are a naturalist. The location of the villa and the natural river that runs through it are photographers dream. I highly recommend making the trip to Rancho Arribe. Cristian is an incredible host was there for us at every turn. There is help on site if you need to make a trip to town or a fresh cooked meal. If you are renting a car, Cristian recommended renting a 4-wheel drive and I would second that recommendation. Also, once you arrive in Rancho Arribe you then head towards the villa, there is no need to continue through Rancho Arribe like we did. We added a few minutes to our drive because of this.
