'His real name is Joe Marshall. He got his martial arts training from the masters in Japan. They call him SAMURAI COP.' 'Самурай-коп' снимался в конце 80-х иранским режиссёром на серьёзных щах, как этакий малобюджетный закос на 'Смертельное оружие', но в итоге вышла очень нелепая и оттого смешная пародия на боевики эпохи видеосалонов. Весь фильм воспринимается как смесь вышеупомянутого 'Смертельного оружия' и 'Тролля 2' с щепоткой 'Комнаты' в диалогах (режиссёр плохо знал английский, но всё равно заставлял актёров говорить фразы как ему больше понравится). Абсолютно нелепейшие сцены (например, эпизод побега из больницы, где весь медперсонал говорит одну и ту же фразу 'hey, wait a minute' одним и тем же голосом, прям как в старых битэмапах), тупые реплики в стиле 'я положу его отрезанную голову у себя в офисе, чтобы все знали, с кем имеют дело', Роберт З'Дар в роли 'финального босса', нелепо шутящий чёрный напарник, 'щикарные' эффекты (вроде пейнтбольной краски для эффекта огнестрельных ранений), на удивление годная музыка (каждая суровая смена плана сопровождается эпичным 'та-да-да-да-да') и ну очень харизматичный шеф полиции (его коллега из Кунг Фьюри с ним и рядом не стоял). В общем, без всякого сарказма, 8/10 - фильм действительно очень забавный и сам того не замечая обстёбывает большинство штампов в фильмах подобной тематики. Рекомендуется тем, кому Кунг Фьюри показался слишком осовремененным и попсовым.

Yes, the cop they call Samurai has travelled to Los Angeles from a faraway land they call San Diego. Because it would just make no sense to have the movie take place in San Diego, or to have the cop be from L.A. to start with. Or, y’know, Japan.
Why do they need the Samurai Cop in town? Because frankly, the chief was telling everybody how absurd his haircut was, and nobody would believe him, so he said “Look, I’ll have him come to town and you can see this damn thing for yourselves.” It is a work of art. If it seems like there’s a serious threat at any point in time, it’s going to leap off his head and start kicking ass on its own.
Samurai Cop is assigned a partner, whose main job appears to be mugging to the camera as the Samurai Cop punches people. Together, they’ve got to bust a gang whose stated goal is putting someone’s head on their piano. These villains are lead by Robert Z’dar, who will hopefully reinforce any piano he plans to put his own prodigious cranium on top of.
Decapitations, explosions, poorly subbed in stunt doubles, mangled dialogue, prominent lion heads, and unfortunate banana hammocks abound in this extremely eighties-y nineties movie. Join Mike, Kevin, Bill, and Alfonso Rafael Federico Sebastian for Samurai Cop!
