Pokémon fans are some of the most creative out there. And that definitely shows with these Sabrina cosplays, who look exactly like the gym teacher!
Often with anime or cartoons, there's always an issue with hair color. Trunks in Dragonball comes to mind as his color seems to always be in a state of flux depending on what medium he's seen in. In some cases it's purple and in others, it's more of a blue. On top of that, the purple isn't even consistent most of the time.
The same fate falls on Sabrina from Pokémon , who ranges from a deep green to a purple to raven black. It leads to a bit of confusion when doing fan art and especially cosplay where you always want to be as close to the character as possible. It's led to quite a wide variety of takes on the psychic gym leader!
One of the colors mentioned was the forest green, the choice Angelangelyss chose. This matches up with the anime series , that decided to give her the green coloring, a choice that works well honestly.
It fits the character more than black does, giving her a far more unique look as well. The rest of the outfit is simple, as is the case with most Pokémon trainers, but that doesn't negate how well she pulls it off. Adding in the Pokéball is a good touch as well, making it completely clear who she is.
Mikejimamagic's cosplay is more free fitting than Angel's, having a little more bagginess and sag to it. They manage to capture some of that inherent deviousness that character has, looking at the camera like they are debating which of their ghost-type Pokémon they want to unleash onto you.
They seem fully confident that no matter what they pick, they will be the one who's going to come out on top in the ensuing battle, her badge remaining where it belongs.
Angelangelyss makes good use of props, first using the Pokéball and now utilizing a plush Haunting, one of Sabrina's favored Pokémon.
They are the perfect pair, Haunting looking like he has devious plans for whatever Pokémon he's pitted up against while Sabrina looks entirely intrigued by what the Pokémon is going to do. The camera angle helps show off how flowing and long the green wig is, draping over the side of the gazebo.
The choice of the purple hair is a strange one, as is the decision to take this picture with the sun directly in Shirai's eyes. That said, the cosplay itself is very good, the addition of the white gloves adding to it quite well, adding a small layer of character to Sabrina that many others don't have.
It's always a positive when you have the Pokéball as well, as intricate to the series as any of the actual Pokémon were.
Digitally enhanced portions of cosplay don't always come out well, at times looking too fake or manufactured. This is far from one of those times.
The green flames coming from her hands add so much, just as the floating Pokéball covered in the same flames does. It shows that she embodies some of the same traits as her Pokémon, being more than just a simple Pokémon trainer. The long black hair even works here as the whole image paints her almost like she's a Warlock from a magical realm.
Without any context, this could easily be the poster for some new horror movies. That's not far from the truth, as Sabrina was one of the creepier characters in the anime.
She was always silent, choosing to speak through her doll rather than through her actual self. It gave her a horror element that you'd rarely ever see in a show like Pokémon. Queenthepumpkin helps captures a lot of that here, the Sabrina doll looking suitably unnerving.
Sabrina was one of the few gym leaders who always had a sense of intimidation to her, something that couldn't be said of a lot of the Indigo League leaders. Just take a look at Brock and Misty for proof of that. Dlifemana keeps a lot of that feeling with this cosplay, expression looking like anything but a future ally.
She looks ready to not only defeat the trainer who dared challenge her but also drive them to the point that they give up on the profession completely.
Small things can always do so much to help a cosplay, in this case, that's Viper's decision to paint her nails. The darkened color goes so well with both the red and black of the outfit, but the forest green hair.
It feels like it fits for the character as well, not at all coming from the left field. The oversized buttons have a really nice shine to them too, making them a feature on the cosplay rather than merely something they added at the last minute.
In a world full of strange Pokémon, Mimikyu is up there was one of the strangest. It's a Pokémon that hides beneath a rag, using Pikachu's likeness to make friends as it's incredibly lonely. Someone like Sabrina could relate as she bottled all of her good feelings within a doll, making the two perfect for each other.
It wouldn't be that surprising if the two coming together let them shine out their true selves as shown in this selfie, filled with smiles rather than a sense of dourness.
Even Gym leaders have to occasionally go out and catch themselves a Pokémon, Sabrina happens to be more than prepared for it with her Pokéball at the ready. With her hand firmly planted on her hip, she seems ready to demand that her target be captured or else. The entire photo has a little bit of that sass mixed into it, the lighter coloring of her hair playing into that some too.
It's almost a seafoam or sea green rather than typical forest green. It helps give the entire cosplay a different look while still staying true to the character.
