1. PM Narendra Modi will participate in a programme marking a decade of the Startup India initiative at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi today. Startup India was launched on 16 January 2016 as a transformative national programme to nurture innovation, promote entrepreneurship, and enable investment-driven growth.
2. NTA has decided that all candidates scheduled to appear for the JEE (Main) 2026 Session 1 examination in West Bengal on January 23, 2026, will be allotted an alternative examination date from the advertised dates.
3. ECI extends the schedule for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Goa, Lakshadweep, Rajasthan, Puducherry, and West Bengal up to January 19.
4. Voting in 29 municipal corporations across Maharashtra, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, concluded peacefully yesterday.

8. Uttar Pradesh has approved six new North–South road corridors to improve connectivity across more than 24 districts. Backed by CM Yogi Adityanath, the project aims to boost economic growth, reduce travel time, and integrate major expressways, with completion targeted within two years.
9. The long-awaited schedule for the election of the BJP national president will be announced on Friday.
