The Biggest LoserThe Biggest Loser is a reality television format which started with the American TV show The Biggest Loser in 2004. The show centers on overweight and obese contestants attempting to lose the most weight; the winner receives a cash prize. There are different variations of The Biggest Loser around the world. Each country has made its own adaptation of the show; however, the contestants always have the same goal: to lose the highest percentage of weight (or most weight) to become the "biggest loser". There is no minimum or maximum weight limit for the show, but most males tend to weigh over or near 300 lb (136 kg). Females tend to weigh over or near 200 lb (91 kg). In addition to individual contestants, some seasons in some international adaptations have featured couples or even whole families.
The Biggest Loser (British TV series) series 3The Biggest Loser UK 2009 was the third season of the reality television series The Biggest Loser. The season first aired on 27 April 2009 with the final episode on 19 June 2009 with eight overweight couples (sixteen individuals) competing for a cash prize of £10,000. Kate Garraway was featured as the host, with trainers Angie Dowds and Richard Callender. Kevin Sage was named as the winner after losing 9 st 6 lb.

Vicki Butler-Henderson was featured as the host, with trainers Angie Dowds and Mark Bailey. Aaron Howlett was named as the winner after losing 9 st 12 lb.
The Biggest Loser (British TV series)The Biggest Loser is a British reality television show that began airing on Sky Living from 2005 to 2006, before moving to ITV in 2009 and finished in 2012. Most recently hosted by Davina McCall, the show is a spin-off of the American reality television show of the same name. The show originally featured Angie Dowds and Mark Bailey as the personal trainers, with Richard Callender replacing Bailey from series 3. After Dowds died in 2011, she was replaced by Charlotte Ord and Rob "The Killer" Edmond for the fifth series. The first two series of the show were hosted by Vicki Butler-Henderson on Living TV. The show then moved to ITV, where the third series was hosted by Kate Garraway, and the fourth and fifth by Davina McCall. In September 2012, it was announced that the show would be cancelled, with no further series planned.

The 12 contestants on the show were split into two teams who were trained by fitness trainers Mark Bailey and Angie Dowds. The series had 12 episodes that aired weekly on LIVINGtv from 11 October to 27 December 2006. The episode with the highest viewership numbers was episode 11, which aired on 20 December and was seen by 200,000 viewers. The winner of the series was Jodie who lost 46.85% of her starting body weight and won £25,000.

The Biggest Loser (British TV series) series 5The Biggest Loser UK 2012 is the fifth series of the reality television show titled The Biggest Loser. The series began on ITV on 3 January 2012 and ended on 13 March 2012, with seven overweight pairs (fourteen individuals) competing for a cash prize. Davina McCall is featured as the host, with trainer Richard Callender and two new trainers, Charlotte Ord and Rob Edmond, who replaced Angie Dowds. Dowds had left the show part-way through the fourth season, although she returned for the final. Dowds died on 23 November 2011 in an apparent suicide. The prize of £25,000 was won by Kevin McLernon, who shed 40% of his body weight.
