Sanford, FloridaSanford is a city and the county seat of Seminole County, Florida, United States. It is located in Central Florida and its population was 61,051 as of the 2020 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. Known as the "Historic Waterfront Gateway City", Sanford sits on the southern shore of Lake Monroe at the head of navigation on the St. Johns River. Native Americans first settled the area thousands of years before the city was formed. The Seminoles arrived in the area in the 18th century. During the Second Seminole War in 1836, the United States Army established Camp Monroe and built a road now known as Mellonville Avenue. Sanford is about 20 miles (32 km) northeast of Orlando. Sanford is home to Seminole State College of Florida and the Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Its downtown attracts tourists with shops, restaurants, a marina, and a lakefront walking trail. The Orlando Sanford International Airport, in the heart of the town, functions as the secondary commercial airport for international and domestic carriers in the Orlando metropolitan area.

Naval Air Station SanfordNaval Air Station Sanford (IATA: NRJ, ICAO: KNRJ, FAA LID: NRJ) was a naval air station of the United States Navy in Sanford, Florida, approximately 20 miles north of Orlando, Florida. Opening less than a year after the start of World War II, NAS Sanford's initial function was as an advanced training base for land-based patrol bombers, followed by carrier-based fighter aircraft. The air station briefly closed in 1946 and was placed in caretaker status until being reactivated in 1950. It eventually served as a Master Jet Base for carrier-based heavy attack and reconnaissance aircraft until 1969. After its closure, it reopened as civilian general aviation airport under various names with a non-Navy civilian airport identifier (IATA: SFB, ICAO: KSFB, FAA LID: SFB) until finally transitioning to a scheduled air carrier airport under its current name of Orlando-Sanford International Airport.
Lake Monroe (Florida)Lake Monroe is one of the lakes that make up the St. Johns River system. The port city of Sanford is situated along the southern shore (on the Sanford side is The Sanford Riverwalk), while DeBary and Deltona are located along the northern shore. Two major central Florida roadways that run near the lake are State Road 415 which crosses at the Osteen Bridge, US Routes 17-92 which crosses at Lake Monroe Bridge and Interstate 4 which crosses the river at the St. Johns River Veterans Memorial Bridge. It forms the border of Seminole County and Volusia County It is the 8th largest lake in the Orlando metropolitan area, after Lake Jesup, 7 miles (11 km) to the south.

Cross Seminole TrailThe Cross Seminole Trail is a pedestrian, bicycle, and equestrian trail in Seminole County, Florida just north of Orlando. The first segment opened in 2002. The current route begins at the intersection of Aloma and Howell Branch where it meets the Cady Way Trail in Winter Park through Oviedo and Winter Springs and stretches into Lake Mary. The trail is 23 miles (37 km) long, or 34 miles (55 km) including the Orange County trail extension. The trail connects to Seminole Wekiva Trail in Lake Mary. . It ends near Lake Monroe with it intersecting the Sanford Riverwalk.

Sanford RiverwalkThe Sanford Riverwalk is in Sanford, Florida and it borders Lake Monroe. is a multi-use trail including 26 miles (42 km) around Lake Monroe and a 3.4 miles (5.5 km) connector to the Florida's Coast to Coast connector—linking the west and east coasts of central Florida. On the Riverwalk is Seminole County World War I Monument at the Sanford Veterans Memorial Park. The Trail is East to West , its westernmost point is Mellionville and 1st street , its easternmost point is Lake Monroe Wayside Park but goign to that requires crossing US Routes 17-92 ( north 17 , east 92 / they overlap between Lake Alfred in Polk County to Deland in Volusia County ) and an exit ramp from Interstate 4 exit 104. The last point before crossing the road is also where the Cross Seminole Trail as it is US-17 for its last parts connects to the Spring-to-Spring Trail and the Riverwalk. On the Riverwalk is the Sanford Veterans Memorial Park and the Sanford Marinera. It connects to the cross seminole trail at CST mile Marker 27.5, this is disputed whether this is the ending point , the part after i-4 connects CST to the Spring to Spring Trail and Coast-to-Coast trail.
