But to drive home just how adult the material is, the film also includes a nude fight scene between Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and his nemesis Ajax (Ed Skrein).
In a recent interview with Buzzfeed , Reynolds went into some detail about the experience of shooting the sequence.
“There’s a lot of me there,” Reynolds said. “There’s nothing else you can do except to sorta grin, bear it, and go, ‘All right guys, we’re all going to get to really know each other today…’ It was ugly by necessity.”
I guess necessary in the sense that the scene follows the experiment that makes Deadpool into a mutant, so showing him nude in the fight yet apparently unharmed from it gives you a good indication that he can no longer feel pain and he can easily heal. (And for the record: There is no gratuitous full-frontal shot — the scene is tastefully done.)
Reynolds also dropped some movie knowledge, saying that for inspiration he went back and watched Viggo Mortensen in " Eastern Promises, " in which the "Lord of the Rings" actor has a nude fight scene in a sauna. ( Check it out , but just a head’s up, it's NSFW.)
“I always thought there’s nothing more frightening than trying to fight a nude man in a Russian sauna,” Reynolds said.
"Deadpool" opens in theaters on Friday.

Reynolds discusses the lengthy makeup process he endured to bring Deadpool's downstairs to life.
We now know at least one major reason why "Deadpool" got a hard R rating: there's a naked fight scene. Ryan Reynolds discussed the scene, which finds Wade Wilson throwing down with an opponent in his heavily scarred birthday suit, in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly . Considering the extreme damage done to Deadpool's epidermis, Reynolds had to endure "eight hours of prosthetic makeup in places that no man needs to be there with a paintbrush."
The leading man also had a chat with the crew before shooting the scene. "The only way to do that is just do it," said Reynolds. "We had a little talk with the crew at the beginning of the day and just said, 'You're going to see parts of the dance floor here that you weren't ready for. I'm sorry in advance, but we're all in this together.'"
But Reynolds had an Academy Award-winning makeup artist paying attention to all of his details, so he was in good hands. "We had Bill Corso, who's this incredible Oscar-winning makeup artist .... He's a genius, and he made my penis look perfect."
Directed by Tim Miller and starring Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano and more, "Deadpool" opens on February 12.

Before Ryan Reynolds ’ Wade Wilson straps on his red suit and katana swords as the Merc With a Mouth in Deadpool , he has a fight with Ajax (Ed Skrein) featuring far fewer accessories.
Reynolds has previously addressed the antihero’s naked fight scene , but he got even more candid about what it was like during an appearance on Wednesday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show .
“You have a little talk with the crew at the beginning of the day; you just say, ‘You guys, you’re going to see things that you shouldn’t see.’ And you just kind of go for it,” he told DeGeneres. “I kind of got an idea of what it’s like to maybe work in the adult film industry. By lunch time you’re just like, you know, ‘Oh, Greek salad’s good isn’t it?’ Just totally nude standing at the line. You just lose that sort of filter there. I’m not above taking my clothes off for money — that’s the bottom line.”
Deadpool ’s record-breaking debut last weekend came after a marketing blitz that found Reynolds’ foul-mouthed character cracking jokes pretty much everywhere, a fact that wasn’t lost on the actor’s 14-month-old daughter , James.
“She has a few words in her vocabulary. She sees me all over the place. Because right now, the Deadpool advertising is everywhere,” he said. “So when we go to New York City, it’s on top of the cab and she’ll be like, ‘Dada. Dada. Dada. Dada” I don’t know how she, I mean I’m in a mask, but yeah, she knows that’s me.”
