Newman Finishes 23rd in Final Race in No. 6 AVONDALE, Ariz. (Nov. 7, 2021) – In his final race behind the wheel of the No. 6 Ford Mustang for Roush Fenway Racing, Ryan Newman finished 23rd in the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season finale. Sunday marked the 20-year veteran’s 725th Cup start – a feat only 14 others in history have accomplished. After a qualifying effort of 19th on Saturday, Newman fired off for the 312-lap race from that position. Stage one saw a pair of early cautions with the South Bend, Indiana, native around 20th, before going on to finish the first stage in 22nd. A good stop on pit road put him 17th on the restart for a stage that was halted three times. He hovered around the same position throughout the 115-lap stage, ultimately ending it in 20th. A green-flag pit cycle that began just prior to lap 250 put Newman on the plus side of track position as a caution came out, giving him a restart inside the top-20. The final yellow would fly at lap 282 with a 24-lap shootout to the end where he would finish 23rd.

Newman Finishes 32nd at Martinsville RIDGEWAY, Va. (Oct. 31, 2021) – Ryan Newman had a series of events not go his way Sunday afternoon at Martinsville Speedway, ultimately finishing 32nd after a couple of on-track incidents. After rolling off from the 27th position, Newman was poised to begin a charge forward, but got turned just 70 laps in, causing some cosmetic damage, enough to bring the Kohler Generators Ford to pit road. Not long after, he was forced to pit road for a tire rub and was then caught speeding, resulting in multiple laps down. Another cut tire, which ultimately caused a shortage on fresh tires throughout the day, and a spin late in the race, put Newman well off the pace as he crossed the line 32nd. Newman and the No. 6 team close out the 2021 season next weekend at Phoenix Raceway. Sunday’s race is set for 3 p.m. ET on NBC, MRN and SiriusXM Channel 90.

Newman’s Promising Day Dampened by Late Race Spin KANSAS CITY, Kansas (Oct. 24, 2021) – After seeing some early speed a week ago in Texas, Ryan Newman and the No. 6 Violet Defense Ford Mustang looked to improve upon their 31st place starting position at Kansas Speedway on Sunday afternoon. Newman had worked his way inside the top-20 after the competition caution on lap 20 of the race, but a pit stop late in the stage would relegate Newman to a 29th place finish in stage one, one lap down. Over the next 80 laps, the No. 6 Violet Defense team would work their way up to 21st, but would fall another lap down with a caution-free stage two. The team worked tirelessly during the day with a bevy of adjustments, but unfortunately the No. 6 would go for a spin with just under 50 laps remaining in the Hollywood Casino 400, putting him another lap down. Newman would complete the remainder of the race in 27th. The No. 6 team is back next weekend at Martinsville Speedway, where short track action Sunday is set for 2 p.m. ET on NBC. It can also be heard on MRN and SiriusXM Channel 90.
