I eventually hit a point with Stardew Valley where it wasn't relaxing anymore, I was trying to minmax everything and be as productive as possible every day. I was making fucking spreadsheets. And I realized you know what, this is exactly the opposite of what I enjoyed so much about this game when I started. Click to expand More options. Serious question: What's the point of a prerendered trailer? As a potential new customer it told me literally nothing about the gameplay. I generally enjoyed GoT, though I didn't like the combat system. On one hand it was just too complicated with far too many button combos to memorize for all the special attacks and alternate weapons, multiplied by the different stances each with its own button combos for its different techniques. But on the other hand a lot of them didn't work reliably, so far too often fights just ended up as button mashing without a lot of strategy. And then you'd get to a boss fight, and for no reason it would take away all your special attacks and alternate weapons. You put in all that time trying to master the intricacies of the combat system, and then it takes them away when you need them most?? It was still fun and I liked the story. I just hope they clean up combat in the sequel. Fred Duck Ars Praefectus. As I noted in one of the earlier Ghost of Tsushima articles, I was amused that the developers intentionally chose a sound 'Tsu' that many westerners have a difficult time pronouncing. It seems they've moved away from that. Edit: Samuel Axon said:. A blog post from Sony says the new character is named Atsu. The wind as objective marker design is one of the single most brilliant additions I've ever seen in videogames full stop. I enjoy a well designed open world but I hate how so many rely on mini maps and compasses, I do not want to just stare at the HUD — thanks. Being able to summon a general direction indicator via a gust of wind that is so beautifully stitched into the fabric of the world is a delight. Ghost of Tsushima was an absolute technical marvel, very pretty. Unfortunately I found the story and game that was attached to it to be pretty lacking. I'm generally not a fan of open-world checklist games though. Last edited: Sep 25, Atterus said:. I'm excited. Just finished the original on legend and it's one of my favorite stories already. Gameplay was smooth and is the penultimate 'Samurai' game for sure. TranslateDoggie Ars Centurion. Louis XVI said:. SedsAtArs Ars Praetorian. The Witcher 3 is the best example of narrative justifying the stories and making the side quests gripping. Horizon: Zero Dawn was lovely world building with narrative and gameplay I enjoyed. After Black Flag all the UbiSoft chorefests burned me out though. Any comment or guess on whether I might like Ghost of Tsushima? It looks really attractive to me, and if it's possible to play without a PSN account I'll consider it. TranslateDoggie said:. Not a bad note to go out on. I forget why we don't do any more after that. Apocalypse, probably. LuDux said:. The first game was pretty Demento Ars Legatus Legionis. I think the voting system is a bit harsh on the people who didn't love it. No-one has said they hated Ghost. Yes, much like in Creed Valhalla there's always a certain satisfaction to mowing straight through your opponents. But consider the lengths they went to in the DLC to make combat more interesting, and mostly failing. They made it harder, but not more interesting. Post content hidden for low score. Maybe the developer went skiing and got some inspiration. PsychoArs Ars Praetorian. If this was ever cute, it stopped being cute around the time literal nazis started marching in the streets carrying torches. Despite the set year Hokkaido seems to be on the almost opposite of Nagasaki so I wonder if they will include Europeans in the story. Been meaning to pick up the PS5 director's cut of the first but haven't yet. Too much open world for me anymore. I've been downsizing. The wide-angle shots may be stunning, but the level of detail is extremely uneven. It was amazing to me how polarizing the first game was for folks. I normally don't enjoy open world games as all the side stuff usually feels like padding. GoT comes along and I got the platinum and did everything in the game. From the wind marker to the combat dueling! It just clicked and none of it felt like busy work. Then I find people complaining about how boring it was. And these folks play every open world game there is and loved them. Really looking forward to this one. Iirc is the start of the Tokugawa shogunate iirc. GenocideOwl Ars Tribunus Militum. Zoc said:. It's an interesting setting. There were still battles between the Japanese and the native of Hokkaido, the Ainu, who had a completely different culture and language, more akin to the Inuit than the Japanese. Nothing except pottery and dirt mounds remains of the period, so a lot of it is still very mysterious. I'm curious to see what these developers make of it. Why does every publisher push their launcher and accounts for their games? Even Larian is doing it. You're telling me they're all going to start a subscription service to play the games I already own? Seems unlikely. Murry Wilson Ars Centurion. Please can we update Channel ARS down there? It's been years of being reminded of the existence of Donald P Bellasario each and every day now. No offense, but that's too much fucking Donald P Bellasario. Flipside79 Ars Tribunus Angusticlavius. I am really impressed with the Sony PC ports. I may finally have to pick this one up. Daniel Ars Praefectus. I just finished Ghost of Tsushima on the Steam Deck and really enjoyed it. Came right after a replay of a few of the more recent Assassin's Creed games so I was already in that mood. I know it's going to be quite awhile before this is out, and then PC ported, but if it's anything like the original it'll be a sure buy for me. ThatEffer Ars Scholae Palatinae. Demento said:. Crito Ars Scholae Palatinae. HiroTheProtagonist Ars Praefectus. The game was definitely subject to open-world checklist fatigue. I disagree that it was a technical marvel, though. It didn't improve much on The Witcher 3, for instance. Rather, it had excellent artistic direction. The true highlight was the combat system, an absolute masterpiece. It's the key reason I'm eager to play the sequel, along with the cool historical and cultural aspects. Crazy Diamond Ars Tribunus Angusticlavius. Ghosts of Tsushima is the second game I returned on Steam, and my steam account is 20 years old. Because it would literally crash immediately on startup. Apparently, there is or was an issue with 'high end processors'. I have a kf and RTX Shame, I was looking forward to a new open world game. My flight sim experience has been excellent in the meantime. I am just now working my way through Tsushima's DLC island. Loved the game, but I do feel satiated enough that a sequel announcement doesn't have me super excited to jump back in. But in a year or two I will probably be ready for more Ghost. I really enjoyed GoT, and this looks intriguing. The art style was instantly recognisable, but that is no bad thing. Coolman Ars Scholae Palatinae. Cool that GoT is getting a sequel, but my favorite part of the State of Play was the leaked a day early update to Shredder's Revenge. I've already bought the new characters and having been listening to the new music at work today. Looking forward to jumping on the game tonight. Thad Boyd Ars Legatus Legionis. Daniel said:. I'm still pretty early in the game but I like it a lot so far. A little dour at the start; I hope there's room for some levity later on. You must log in or register to reply here.

I was there about a week after you Niseko, Rusutsu, Kiroro. We found that things in Niseko got skied out a lot faster than the other two resorts. Really liked the tree skiing of Rusutsu. This TR makes me want to knock it off the list repeatedly and often. Join Date Apr Posts 2, Just an FYI for people poking into the Japan threads- I've been living in Central Japan for nearly 10 years now and the last 5 years has seen an explosion of pow riders as new tech has come on scene. I firmly believe the days of endless pow at JP resorts is near its end. Get it now. I used to have forests to myself. Now I share them with about 25 regulars, not to mention a hundred or so tourists each saturday. We're all friends, and it's a welcomed change as it stabilizes the snow pack, but it is also a harsh reality. All-day-long chair-accessed fresh stashes won't last forever in this booming industry. You should really bump Japan to the top of your bucket list. Just get off a train anywhere out of the city and play I Spy. My first winter here I used to take a taxi from my apartment out to the hills in my ski boots. The taxi driver always laughed at me but it's just so damn easy. Appreciate all the compliments!
