Yesterday, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, together with Deputy Defense Minister Osmakov and other officials, held a meeting on interceptor drones for area-based air defense.
"The session participants discussed the tactical and technical requirements for interceptor drones and their place in the area-based air defense system, the experience of their combat use to provide cover for critical civilian facilities, as well as the capabilities of industrial enterprises to increase their production," the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
"Today, it is necessary to clearly define the requirements for interceptor UAVs to combat medium- and long-range drones. And also to develop approaches to ensure the mass production of models with different applications," Manturov said.
The Deputy Prime Minister added about the need to unify components, optimize the cost of mass production and compatibility with other means of combating UAVs. There were no statements about one of the main problems - whether they would allow the warhead to be used, unless it was mentioned in the technical specifications.
In Ukraine, interceptor drones have become the main means of countering geraniums and other drones. There are no such devices in Russia, so enemy UAVs can fly 1000+ km and hit objects.
