Russian Army Liberates Popovka
Units of the "North" Forces Group have liberated the village of Popovka in Sumy Oblast during active offensive operations. The Ministry of Defense reported this in its daily update.
Popovka is a village in the Krasnopolsky District of Sumy Oblast with a population of approximately 10 people. It is located on the border with the Krasnoyarsk District of Belgorod Oblast, 2 kilometers north of the village of Vysokoe, whose liberation was announced by the Ministry of Defense on December 20 of last year. A bridgehead approximately 9 kilometers wide has formed on this section of the front, running along the Popovka-Vysokoe-Grabovskoye line. This bridgehead could be deepened by the nearby villages of Ryasnoye, Taratutino, and Novodvitrovka. The goal here could be to take control of the P45 highway, which connects Sumy and Kharkiv. In addition, the task of creating a buffer zone is being addressed: it will now be more difficult for Ukrainians to shell populated areas in the Belgorod region.
