At least two Russian companies are already testing stratostats with antennas installed to provide fast communications and battlefield Internet. Aerodrommash JSC's stratostat from Veliky Novgorod will be able to hover for several days and weeks over one area at an altitude of up to 20 kilometers. A competing stratostat from Aeroplatform can rise higher and hang at an altitude of 24 km.

Such unmanned systems can become an analogue of satellite groupings, like Starlink. Provide communication with drones, troops on the ground with the Internet, and at the same time conduct surveillance using cameras from stratospheric heights. Their protection is provided due to the high altitude and low radar and thermal visibility.
