Running a Shardeum

xNode is thrilled to announce support for running a Shardeum Node.

Shardeum is attempting to solve the trilemma affecting most blockchains where they have to prioritize among scalability, security and decentralization, but at best they can pick only two of these attributes.

Shardeum is employing a technique called sharding that partitions the network into shards, resulting in more transactions being processed, verified and validated in parallel. The startup’s blockchain, which is currently in testnet, aims to be EVM-compatible and use proof-of-stake and proof-of-quorum consensus mechanisms to reduce the cost of running the network and rely on three types of nodes — validator, archival and standby — in its network.

Shardeum anticipates that it will be able to process more than 100,000 transactions per second with 100,000 nodes and will maintain a latency of 10 seconds. The L1 blockchain will also provide ways to help Ethereum developers transition to Shardeum and maintain stable gas fees.

Step 1 - Purchasing Shardeum Node

1. Head to app.xnode.pro site.
2. Select "Shardeum" and choose your desired rental duration.
3. Confirm your purchase by clicking “Checkout”.
4. Monitor the "Active Nodes" section to verify the deployment status.

Step 2 - Grab your node link and password

Wait for the node to get "Installed". Once your Shardeum node shows as “Installed”, click on the 🔑 icon on the right-most side of your subscription row to retrieve the link and password.

Step 3 - Connect your node

1. Go to the link you just received and login using password.
2. At the right corner, click Connect Wallet (we recommend using a new one).

Step 4 - Shardeum Faucet

1. Invitation to Shardeum Discord
2. Verify your Discord account on the Shardeum Discord server by clicking on the Shardeum emoji logo.
3. Go to the faucet channel in Shardeum discord - https://discord.com/channels/933959587462254612/1253938152775749673
4. Type: /faucet [address: yourMetamaskWalletAddress]
   (example: /faucet address: 0xfB10C06fBEDdC9E91e062B5d5AF70beFc8839e1A )

Step 5 - Start your node

1. Go back to your node.
2. Stake 11 or more SHM tokens.
3. Start your node.

Step 6 -

1. Go to https://shardeum.org/incentivized-testnet/validator
2. Connect wallet and complete Level_1 task by clicking on the circle on the top right.
