If it exists, there is porn of it — no exceptions.

Supposedly originating and popularized by the 4chan Image Boards , this was the first near-universally agreed-upon Rule Of The Internet . It is so well founded and documented with irrefutable proof that even those with only a cursory awareness of the Internet are aware of this rule even if they don't know it has a name.

While the original architects of the Internet had grandiose goals of research and data sharing, the second it fell into the hands of Joe Everyman , it became a tool for one thing and one thing only: pornography ! Now, it's not that everyone online is just looking for pornography; it's just that it's very very easy to come across. Even if you're not looking for it! Don't believe us? Do a Google image search (filters off) of, well, pretty much anything. Sometimes even with the filters on .

The key reason the scope of it is so wide and bizarre lies in what some have come to call Rule 36 : "If you've thought of it, then there's somebody out there with a Fetish for it." (And incidentally, by "it" we mean "anything that exists in the world.")

There's also Rule 35 , basically a guarantee that Rule 34 will remain true : "If there is no porn of it, it will be made". This basically means that if you notice you can't find porn of something, and point it out, somebody will be happy to draw/write/find it for you in pretty short order.

Finally, there is the concept of quantum porn. "Referring to a type of previously non-existent porn will cause online porn of that type to come into being retroactively." Nobody takes this seriously, so far as is known.

You may wish to keep a bottle of Brain Bleach handy while proving Rule 34. See also Rule 63 , which gets mixed up with this. And if you do go hunting to prove this rule false, say good-bye to your childhood first...

Not to be confused with US federal courts' Rule 34 . Or Rule 34 of the Evil Overlord List (dealing with the trope Scaled Up ). Or The 34th Rule , a Star Trek: Deep Space Nine book (the 34th Rule of Acquisition reads " War is good for business "). Or Wolfram 's Rule 34. Or Charles Stross 's novel Rule 34 (although it is the origin of the Stross title).

Nobody's sure if it's a coincidence that Lyons Township High School 's rule book has #34: No Pornography; mostly because nobody's ever dared to ask.

No examples, please. This applies to everything (except for Discworld , illustrated on several websites, as well as fellow novel runs Leviathan and Mortal Engines), so the list would be as long as ... everything. [1] Also, we're not really interested in being the Net's "How To Find Rule 34 Stuff" — you will need to look elsewhere if you want to find that kind of thing.

For a list of creator reactions to the phenomenon that are definitely not examples, see here .

We’re Row 34. If we could eat oysters and drink beer for every meal period, we probably would. Professionals Only. Row 34 serves up a seafood-focused menu in an industrial-inspired setting. Chef/Owner Jeremy Sewall's menu offers fish entrees and an extensive oyster selection, along with craft beers and an eclectic wine list. Classic comfort food side dishes round out the menu. On vacation..
Visiting the area..
We arrived early so we would have little noise or crowds..
Service was great!
Excellent food, atmosphere and service!
Great raw bar/seafood options. Cool atmosphere - not stuffy. Great beer selection & cocktails.
Kate was amazing and very helpful with recommending oysters for us!
The raw bar is phenomenal, the wine excellent and the staff very friendly.
Ceviche best ever tasted. Waitress calm, no rush, made recommandations on the menu in a nice town
Come here a lot, love it! Tuna is next level and shrimp is always amazing!
Oysters, tuna crudo and the corn bread…..outstanding !!!!
Our server Molly was great! Excellent wine selection, and all our dishes, from the pimento shrimp and crudos, whole bass, and butterscotch pudding were phenomenal.
Wonderful dining experience, again. Was sad to see that they have discontinued their 'buck a shuck' on the oysters. The oysters we did have were excellent. Also, our entrees of blue fish and trout, very very good. We'll be going back soon.
Delicious bluefish, superb biscuits and creative cocktails. This was the perfect place for my spouse and I to brainstorm ideas for a NIH grant proposal about adenomyosis. We came on the early side, and had a corner hightop near the bar - I would not exactly call it cozy as the noise and energy level is high. But sitting next to each other on the corners of the table made for great conversation and food sharing. Just enough ambient energy to jazz us up to be creative. But not the ambience for quiet date night. I love love bluefish and they did a superb job, seared and a little crunchy on top of a thick chowdery-like corn/tasso ham concoction that was a perfect foid. And we recommend splitting one biscuit for dessert - they are definitely dessert - worthy and that's what we did!
Fabulous outside eating, yummy lobster rolls and a great ambience.
Wow, what a great afternoon. Rachel was a sweet, wonderful, attentive, knowledgable and charming.

Ask for her and you will be rewarded with exceptional service.

Food was fantastic. The fish and chips, oysters, mussels steamed in lager and the biscuit were outstanding. Shishito peppers were perfectly roasted, sweet but not spicy.

We loved every bite and every minute there.

Highly Recommend the Dao White wine.
Highly recommend! Great attentive service and really tasty food. We had a lovely experience all around!
Row34 is not inexpensive but it is very very good. Freshest seafood we’ve had in a long time.
We had a wonderful visit! The waitstaff (JT) and front of house (Melissa) made us feel so welcome! We got stuck in Logan with a 30 min delay to our dining reservation and they still held our table! We were so thankful too. The meal and drinks were top-notch. Thank you Row 34 in Portsmouth!
Positive. Would definitely go back.
My family, including our dog, met at Row 34 for a late lunch on a busy and beautiful Saturday and were very pleased to find an upbeat waitstaff, spacious outdoor seating – despite the crowded street – and a menu full of really great options. It's a little on the pricey side, but that was indicated when we made the reservation and the food was worth it. Portsmouth is a great city and Row 34 just makes it an even better place to play in the summer.
Great appetizer and beer/cocktail selection. It was a bit chilly in the restaurant. Service was excellent.
Oysters were great. Cocktails and beer were solid.

Food is nothing special and over priced.

Prices are high to begin with so we don’t understand charging a kitchen admin fee for this type of food at these prices.

Ambiance is loud and trendy. More of a night club scene them a restaurant.

Food was over cooked and mediocre. Management didn’t seem to care as it got busier as the night went in.

Oysters and cocktails are there strong point but they are also no cheap

Plenty of other places in Portsmouth that are better
Staff is very knowledgeable and food and drink is delicious. Fabulous oysters, crudos, and fish pates. Great selections of wine and spirits. Been here a few times and it’s consistently good
This restaurant has been a great space for the past couple years. A much needed elegant/casual space with great service and dynamic food choices. Tonight - (oh I’ll be back) fell far short. It seems the new management is taking short cuts and the staff is too young/immature for the price point. Find another spot in Portsmouth
Our server, Laura, was fantastic! Food was great too. Could have included dinner rolls or bread for the prices charged.
Best dinner out in the last 3 years.
My parents were in town, so we had to bring them out for some oysters (even though I messed up and ordered little neck clams instead) and treat them to their first lobster roll. They were quite pleased with all of the food and drinks and vowed to come back next time!
Fun night for the fam 😊
Music level too loud to talk. Otherwise, a great place to enjoy seafood a tasty burgers.
The hostess was so sweet and patient seating us where we wanted to be even getting me a cushion because the metal chairs are so cold …

Our server JT was very professional and knowledgeable.

Food is exceptional ‼️
Awesome for date night! Raw bar was awesome.. Great service and atmosphere. Definite go to spot in Portsmouth.
Always a great meal and great staff! Virginia was great
Staff welcoming, knowledgeable and efficient. Oysters amazing as were all the dishes we ordered.
The food and drinks were delicious! Great selection of oysters.
Very enjoyable experience. Will definitely go again.
We ate outside on a beautiful sunny afternoon. Most people were doing the same. The prices are steep, but I could not resist their fantastic lobster roll with french fries and coleslaw. My fellow diner had the trout, which was served on a bed of lovely couscous salad, enhanced by fresh season raw vegetables and olives. It was terrific. Add a couple of margaritas and it was the perfect Saturday afternoon. Our server was absolutely terrific.
We have always liked Row 34, both Boston and Portsmouth locations. We were excited about returning to Portsmouth for the first time since pre-Covid. The food is still good, with the fresh raw oysters the hit of the evening. Especially liked the ones from Duxbury. Would say the cocktail sauce accompanying was not the best, but these lovely oysters stand up by themselves, or with a light squeeze of lemon. Very good beer list, and we were delighted to find the always-winning Oxbow Farmhouse ale. The Stoneface IPA was another winner.

Our major disappointment was the service. Upon being seated we were greeted by a very personable young woman, who took our drink orders and then our food. She asked if we wanted to have the oysters on half shell as a starter, and we said yes. But it took quite a while, and then everything came out at once, meaning the hot entrees were cold before we could finish the oysters. But also, the original server had disappeared, not to be seen again. It took forever to order dessert, or to get the check. We have come to be very patient in the Covid environment, in acknowledgement of staffing challenges for businesses, but this was unacceptable.

But the coup de grace was the appearance of a bizarre add-on to the check, referred to as “Kitchen Admin. Fee” for 3.50% of the bill total. We have never seen this anywhere else. If, as the label implies, it is necessary to help cover cost of kitchen overhead, then the menu prices should simply be increased slightly, I think this was deceptive. If the restaurant was going to impose this add-on, they should have clearly disclosed it either at time reservation was made, or upon seating us.

Having said this, we would return to give Row 34 another try.
Good food, service and ambiance. Unfortunately , the music was much too loud!!
Outstanding!! Courtney was the perfect server!
We ordered several light bites Raw bar, and cocktails and can’t wait to return. Thank you!!!
Incredible bartenders and even better food. Great spot for a summer afternoon date.
Very cute place, great cocktails, great raw bar, very below average food. The pasta was wayyyy over cooked or not made properly as my shrimp scampi was not edible. Oysters were Devine but very let down on the rest of the food.
