Roxanne
Abel Isaiah
She stood by the streetlamp, her silhouette barely visible in the dim light. The rain had just started to fall, and I watched as she let it soak her hair and dress. There was something captivating about her, and I couldn't help but be drawn to her.
"Tell me your name," I said as I approached her, trying to shield us both from the rain. She turned to me with a playful smile and whispered her name, her voice almost lost in the sound of the rain.
"I don't ever wanna let you down," I told her, hoping she could sense how much I meant it. We stood there for a moment, both getting drenched.
As the rain continued to pour, we ended up at my place. The view from my window was stunning, but nothing compared to the way she looked at me. "Roxanne," I said softly, "why'd you wanna leave me on my own now?" I could see the conflict in her eyes, a mix of desire and hesitation.
We decided to go for a drive, hoping to escape the rain and our tangled emotions. I drove aimlessly, trying to distance myself from the pain of not knowing where we stood. "I'm falling deep within your eyes like cocaine," I admitted, feeling both exhilarated and overwhelmed.
She remained calm. "You know, you've got to believe me," I said, trying to bridge the gap between us. But no matter how much I wanted to, there was a part of her that remained distant.
We drove further, I couldn't shake the feeling of being caught in a dream I couldn't control. "Roxanne," I said, "I think we should go, but I'm not sure enough." Her silence spoke volumes, and I realized that the more I tried to hold on, the more she seemed to slip away.
The night seemed to stretch on forever, and I was left with the haunting memory of her touch and her kiss. "It's burning my mind," I said to myself, "that you left me inside with your lips and your thighs." Even as I tried to grasp what we had, it felt like I was losing her.
In the end, I knew that Roxanne was a fleeting moment, something beautiful that wouldn't last. "I think we should go," I repeated, feeling the weight of my own uncertainty. "Roxanne, why'd you wanna leave me?"
The rain continued to fall as I drove through the night, and I could only hope that, someday, she might find her way back to me. For now, all I had left were our memories, and the unanswered questions that lingered.
