Our mission is simple: Make self defense, yoga, martial arts and fitness training accessible to everyone.
Rough Hands is Louisville's most comprehensive self-defense facility. We provide the finest Krav Maga , Yoga , Brazilian Jiu Jitsu , and Strength & Conditioning training in the greater Louisville area. It’s often said to beginners that “the best gym to pick is the one you’ll keep going to”. I think RH is the epitome of this philosophy. They will do what they can to help you get in and train. Even though it’s not the closest gym I could go to, the welcoming atmosphere, communicative coaches, and collaborative community are a cut above.
More than just a gym, but a welcoming family working together to continuously help each other improve every session. Jesse, Shelby and the rest of the staff are amazing coaches and people. I have learned so much from them and everyone I have trained with over the years. They have something to offer EVERYONE at any level and at reasonable price, whether it’s Krav Maga, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Striking, Conditioning or Yoga. Try it out. Rough hands is more than just a gym...It's my happy place and a safe space. When I relocated to Kentucky I was looking for a place to grow my jiu jitsu, but I feel I have also found a place to grow my circle. Everyone has been very welcoming and accepting of a new face, Even excited it seems. Excellent place!
Jesse, Shelby, and all of the other coaches have pushed me in ways that I didn’t know was possible, while continuing to foster a safe and supportive environment. Classes have become my self care and have shown me how strong I actually am. Rough Hands has also given me a family I wasn’t looking for, but am so glad to have found. Now, I’m not so scared to face the world. I look forward to continuing my training with them.
I love Rough Hands and the sticker on the back of my car will forever rep the studio that I love. The family owned business aspect and the individual relationships that you gain from learning here will never leave you. I have gained many lessons ( not as many as some but I will be back) and they have changed my thinking, my life and my whole being. This place is a family fun place. This group is a family that just isnt training but a place you find hope, lessons, peace, family and etc. I love rough hands and the family they give you. No matter if you are with them daily or with them for short periods at a time. They treat you like one of their own and share such great energy.
Rough Hands offers classes for all skill levels in Krav Maga, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, yoga and other fitness classes. The owners are amazing people as well as amazing coaches who will make you feel welcome and help you learn and figure out what classes are right for you. I've never been to any gym (or any place for that matter) where I felt as welcome as I do at Rough Hands. All of the coaches are friendly and knowledgeable and you can tell that they love what they do and they care about their students. When I first found Rough Hands it was because I was looking for Martial Arts classes for my kids.
The amount of safety Rough Hands provided for me can not be expressed. I spontaneously and randomly joined BJJ with no expectations. Now, I am learning how my body works, redefining what my breath is, and found a family that supports me even when I’m exactly 676 miles away. I know I have a home there.
The most welcoming gym I've set foot in. Beautiful, talented, grounded, and funny, they will get you where you want to be. Beware, they will become family.

Crisis is Alexisonfire's third studio album, and the follow-up to Watch Out!. The album was released on August 22, 2006. The album debuted at #1 on the Canadian Album Charts, selling over 20,000 copies in its first week. Crisis was certified Platinum in Canada in May 2007. It was also the first Alexisonfire album to feature a title track and first album featuring drummer Jordan Hastings.

Hailing from St. Catharines, Alexisonfire rose up out of the Southern Ontario underground in late 2001, to become one of the most successful indie bands in Canada. The band’s success also reached far beyond Canada’s borders. AOF released four hugely successful studio albums, Alexisonfire (2002), Watch Out (2004), Crisis (2006), and Old Crows / Young Cardinals (2009). Crisis debuted at #1 on the Top 200 Soundscan chart (Canada), and Old Crows / Young Cardinals debuted at #2, and charted at #9 on the US Billboard Independent Album chart. Watch Out helped earn the band New Group of the Year at the 2004 JUNO Awards. Their first 3 albums achieved Platinum certification in Canada while Old Crows / Young Cardinals reached Gold certification. The band also topped charts and graced several notable music magazine covers internationally (Kerrang, Blunt, Big Cheese, Canadian Musician, Exclaim! ). AOF’s sold-out 10th Year Anniversary Farewell tour in December 2012 touched down on four continents in 24 days, illustrating how meaningful the band still is to their legion of fans around the world.
