If Rosie Huntington-Whiteley were sharing beauty secrets (like, say, the key to modeling nude with confidence), would you line up to hear them? The good news: You don’t even have to leave your desk. The bad news: She swears she just eats what she wants and takes care of herself and looks like that naturally. So … not a ton of takeaway there. In the latest edition of The Violet Files , she gives her tips (and looks amazing naked, of course).

First up: Her diet. “I don’t want to be that miserable girl pushing a salad around my plate. When I go out with friends, I enjoy myself. At home, I might have some scrambled eggs with some spinach … But, you know, then I’ll go and eat dinner and have loads of roast potatoes at Madeo. I couldn’t live life just restrictive all the time. It’s just no fun to me. That’s not a way to live.”

Those potatoes do come at a price, though. “Beauty for me is about a good workout routine,” she says. (Though it does come with some perks: “I see massage as part of my exercise routine. I work out quite aggressively, and it’s really important for me to have that time for my body as well.”)

Who can blame her for treating her body like a well-oiled (organic, clean, low-calorie oil) machine, when she’s got sexy shoots like this one to pose for on the regular? These days, Huntington-Whiteley hardly thinks about it at all, but she remembers her first nude shoot well. “I had just started modeling,” she says. “I was in London, and it was a different time. I honestly think I was a lot more free when I was younger. Kate Moss was my favorite supermodel; she set the standard in terms of nudity as fashion and art. I think being comfortable in one’s skin is the most attractive quality a girl can have.”

Like Moss, Huntington-Whiteley has expanded her career profile past “supermodel” and well into actress (she’s in the upcoming Mad Max film) and designer (she’s got a line of lingerie for Marks & Spencer), and she takes that development very seriously. “I believe who you surround yourself with is a reflection of yourself. There’s a quote I have always liked by Will Rogers: ‘It takes a lifetime to build a good reputation, but you can lose it in a minute,’ ” she says, adding that there is always some element of chance. “Being a model, being an actress — it’s not decided by you. You’re chosen. You’re cast, and that’s fantastic, of course. I’d like to get myself into a position where I’m starting something on my own. That’s my focus for this year.”

And for your final takeaway from the Rosie Huntington-Whiteley school of beauty: her favorite cosmetics. (Bad news: She wears hardly any on a daily basis.) “I don’t wear a ton of it,” she says. “But I will always have a little foundation on … Then I put on Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Color in Rosebud and a little bit of YSL Babydoll Mascara in Wheedler Brown and a little bit of Eve Lom Kiss Mix, and that suits me for the day, really.”
