Yeah, it's just a void like any of the female characters in Smash 4.
I never bothered enough to look it up, but I was semi-curious how they did it.

Clever, but let's be serious for a moment. Do we really think RT would be..... detailed ....with the character models?
I can't imagine they would be. The closest they've ever come to doing anything indecent would be hiring Meg, and that's only because she was a model.
EDIT: I didn't mean to imply hiring Meg was bad. I meant that her modeling in revealing clothing as a past career was the closest RT had touched with indecency. I don't think anything is wrong with Meg being hired.

From an animation standpoint there is no reason for them to be "detailed" in that aspect, it would just make things more difficult for them. For example think of Yang's shorts, they are form fitting and move with her legs, it would make things unnecessarily difficult to make them a separate piece so they are most likely part of the legs on the character model.

A cool thought, but it's like modeling the chest of a player in an NBA or MLB game. You're not supposed to see it, so why would you even bother to take the step? You just need the model that SHOULD be visual to the plater. If it was a plan from the start, that's cool, but I think it's more likely just a way to save time on modeling characters.
In a combat setting, since that's what Monty's BnB is, you'd avoid something that could cause friction and bother your legs whilst running, kicking and the like. It's why Weiss and Ruby's skirts are so wide.
I don't mean to undermine anyone, but I think it's just a step taken for convince as opposed to making a statement.

Game Of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series actually uses the same thing with its own character models. Simple but effective.
Awesome, yeah, I'm happy to see more animation companies start implementing features like this.
