As a similarly aged female, I have a few insights I'm not sure whether or not they were mentioned.
The Billy bookcase from IKEA, to be specific. I have another hanging above my bed for books I rarely lend out. Personally, my bookcase is full and honestly I need another one(I run my own mini-library essentially).

Other than the basics, it really depends on the girl. It should be a space for her at that age. My daughter has a loft bed with a desk underneath where she can do art work, several book shelves and a few comfortable chairs. At that age, I think they can pick the style of the room. My daughters room is blue and purple with musical notes at the chair rail line (it's actually the opening theme from Star Wars.) She has a net high in one corner for stuffed animals and a few clear shelves that hang from the ceiling where she keeps treasures such as the Millennium Falcon. She does have a TV but it is only hooked up to a Blu-ray player that has wi-fi access so it's mainly used to listen to Pandora or watch a movie.

I have my desk , which I use for homework, crafts, and organizing my important things. I have my dresser with a large vanity mirror, which I use for my clothes (uh duh), and makeup-y things with my jewelry too on the top. I have my tall cabinet , used to store crafts, old stuffed animals, and school supplies. I have my 1.5 book shelves filled and overflowing with books and a few other things, because I love reading. I have posters and pictures to decorate and the posters are of things I like and the pictures are my friends and family.

Thank you for the A to A. I think it's dependent on the 13 year old girl. At this stage they are old enough to have definite opinions on what they like. My daughter is 15 but she's had a love of books for years. It's very important to her to have a bookshelf that she can display her books on. It's a source of pride for her. I've allowed her to tape pictures of her favorite artists, actors, etc. to her walls. I even let her choose the paint color when she was 13. It's her own space and she pretty much got to design in. Led lights around your ceiling and behind ur tv. Fluffy pillows/ blankets. Fuzzy rug. Closet shelves( if u have room in ur closet) to put shoes in and extra things that u don’t have room for anywhere else. Scented candles from bath and body works. A nightstand with outlets built in on the top( LIFESAVER!!!) a desk for any school/ work stuff or for drawing or writing if u do that. Mount your tv on your wall. Sliding mirror doors for your closet. Silk bed sheets. Snacks to put in one of your nightstand drawers for late at night when you get hungry. Mini fridge for food/ drinks. Skincare mini fridge. Makeup vanity. That’s all I can think of for right now just based off of my bedroom. Hopefully this was helpful
Off the top of my head, my own pre-teen girl's room has (amongst the clutter, it's kind of hard to tell!)
We have a separate desk area in the kitchen where she keeps homework supplies, a play room where she stores toys and books, space in the garage for her bike, skates and scooter, and an office where she has her own computer for playing games or doing schoolwork.
