Garrett Rubalcaba, better known to his fans as Roman Heart, has reportedly died at the age of 33.
According to recent social media posts, the former adult star and Falcon Studios exclusive passed away in late 2019. Friends and colleagues have only now learned of the sad news. No cause of death has been released.
A longtime friend of Rubalcaba broke the news on Facebook on August 11, writing:
Tonight we got news that my long time friend Garrett Rubalcaba passed away in late 2019. As to why it’s taken nearly a year to find this out I do not know. Please don’t ask me what happened because we do not know the details but we will further try to find out more.
I’ve known Garrett since I was 18 years old and he helped shape and mold my life and so many of our friends. He will be missed by so many. He was such a beautiful, genuine and kind soul with a heart of gold.
Since then, gay adult industry insiders have expressed their grief and anger over the loss.

To you and the others who have made such brilliant comments here today. I imagine you’ve never moved to different cities, made changes in your life, changed fields of work and/or income or have gotten older. Change is a constant in life. I’ve lost track of many people who were good friends over the decades and don’t know if they’re alive or dead. Sad.
Thanks to COVID everything is moving slower than it did before covid. My family just this week was finally able to have a funeral for our grandmother who passed away in early March.
Family and “next-of-kin” to those working in the porn industry often times have no social or communication pathways with the “co-workers” of their deceased family member who was “in the industry”. And the same situation runs the other direction as well.
Since basically everyone in the porn business uses a stage name, when they die their real name gets filed in police reports or obituaries…. obituaries typically written by a family member or a non-industry close friend. Without a phone call, text, or email from a family member….. it could take months for “news” of the death of a porn actor *** especially if that cause of death were quiet and not leading news broadcast worthy for the sake of ratings*** to reach industry friends and co-workers.
There is no real reason here for you to act like a putz.
It happened last year with still no cause of death? He did have a bad meth addiction at one point though. That comes with all kinds of consequences.

Another beauty lost to us. Why does this keep happening in the gay adult industry? Why is there nobody caring for their stars. I felt sad about Roman Heart and wondered WHY? Perhaps it is something we will never know as his death was almost a year ago. He gave pleasure to a lot of people as friends and fans sp at least we have memories that we can keep forever. May you RIP dear Roman Heart.

And to explain not being so muscular, I was part of the rat race for so long and worked out all the time, and did steroids. Since quitting, I hadn’t worked out and don’t do steroids, which ruined my natural test levels, and now have testosterone of an 80-year-old man. I am not on top of my physique right now but I was for ten years, let’s just say I’m taking time off.
Let me conclude with this, “Roman heart” was a job, or career. But not an identity or make me who I am, I don’t regret anything I did, Don’t get me wrong . but Roman was a persona, not real. So naturally when I stopped working and quit, that I would stop all related social media, etc with the name Roman Heart. The business didn’t make me who I was and I didn’t find my identity in it and being Roman Heart, unlike so many models that can’t seem to identify and distinguish between the industry and the reality, they get lost in it and can’t imagine not being that alter sexy ego.
So there I’ve said my word even when I have been such an advocate to ignore these blogs and post, because the people that really know me, and know that I’m happy and stable and not living out of a van, or starving for attention…

I was fairly good friends with him during high school. We stayed in fairly good contact until 2006 or so I want to say, when he stopped returning texts/calls. I ran into his boyfriend (Benjamin Bradley) at LA pride in 2008 at The Abbey and asked how everything was going and all seemed to be pretty good.
I have since heard from former mutual friends that Garrett (that is Romans real name and the name I knew him as when we were HS friends) got pretty deep into drugs (meth) and maybe wasn’t in a great place anymore. I never verified this or have any actual evidence of it, but the people who told me this were not just random people, they were people I believe would know what is

At my cabin on the lake? I remember Garrett coming up to my cousins yearly party up there as he was dating, or fucking rather, a guy we were friends with. He had just graduated high school a month or so prior to that and he was as sweet as could be.
