A teenager who was left paralysed by her thug ex boyfriend after he kidnapped and threw her into the back of a van has finally been able to hug her mother.
Angel Lynn, who was 19 at the time, was picked up like a 'rag doll' by her abusive boyfriend Chay Bowskill, who was 20, after an argument, as she walked in Rothley, near her Loughborough home on 17 September 2020.
The teen then fell out of the vehicle, which was driven by Bowskill's accomplice Rocco Sansome, also 20, at around 10.45am as it travelled at 60mph, before she was found by horrified members of the public.
In January, Bowskill, now 21, was jailed for seven-and-a-half-years after being found guilty of kidnap, coercive and controlling behaviour, and perverting the course of justice, following a trial at Leicester Crown Court.
Sansome, of Birstall, Leicestershire, was also found guilty of kidnap and sentenced to 21 months in prison.
But in the 18 months since the brutal attack, Angel has been receiving gruelling treatment after being left paralysed - but her mother Nikki Lynn, 47 has revealed the heartwarming moment her daughter hugged her back for the first time.
Mrs Lynn told of how Angel put her hand around her back in return and began tapping her mother, her hand lightly pressing her back and moving it to stroke her hair.

Speaking to the Mirror , 47-year-old Nikki said: 'She didn’t hug much before, she was a typical teenager, but she would give you a hug if you were upset. It’s very special to have that hug now.'
Since the attack in September 2020, Angel has been left unable to eat, walk or talk, and this touching moment where she responded to a hug for the first time is a highlight in the family's hope for recovery.
Angel was airlifted to hospital and given emergency surgery for a bleed on the brain, leaving her with such severe brain injuries that her parents were warned on various occasions that she might not survive.
She has also started to make noises, leading doctors to refer her to speech therapy - something which Nikki, her husband Paddy, 54, hope will mean their daughter can eventually reveal what happened to her.

Angel's father Paddy, who runs a cleaning company with his wife, said: 'She has blown me a kiss. She has put her hand to her mouth and holds it there for at least a minute, and then tries to blow. She does try, it means a lot.'
In January, Bowskill was handed a seven-and-a-half-year sentence after being found guilty of kidnap, coercive and controlling behaviour, and perverting the course of justice, following a trial at Leicester Crown Court.
Sansome, of Birstall, Leicestershire, was also found guilty of kidnap and sentenced to 21 months in prison.
Both men had their sentences referred to the Court of Appeal by Solicitor General Alex Chalk QC, who argued they were 'unduly lenient'.
Now, senior judges at the Court of Appeal have concluded his original term for the kidnap was not long enough and have handed him four-and-a-half more years.

The video, taken in Mountsorrel, shows Bowskill grabbing Angel from behind and carrying her back across the road before bundling her into a van.
After Angel fell out, paramedics attended the scene and she was taken to hospital but despite intensive medical intervention, she was left with life-changing injuries.
The kidnap happened after Angel, who was originally lawfully driving the van, picked up Bowskill and Sansome, before getting into the argument with Bowskill and walking off.
The court heard that moments before she walked off, Bowskill admitted telling Angel he 'hated' her and never wanted to see her again, Leicestershire Live reported. Both men were later arrested.

Bowskill, of Syston, Leicestershire, was also convicted of coercive and controlling behaviour and perverting the course of justice.
He was cleared of causing grievous bodily harm after it became unclear how Angel had left the van.
Now 21, Angel is living under 24-hour care, and her family are raising money to facilitate long-term care to take their loved one back home.
'She is locked in, but every time I see her I tell her "Don’t give up, keep trying, keep telling yourself you can do it",' mother-of-three Nikki added.
The court was told Bowskill had been in a relationship with Ms Lynn for about a year before the incident, and he behaved in a coercive and controlling manner towards her throughout that time, threatening her with violence on a number of occasions.
The judge said he tried to intimidate his own mother into retracting a statement she gave to police about his behaviour towards Ms Lynn following the kidnap.
In a statement released after the sentencing hearing, Ms Lynn's family said: 'Angel was so full of life and had such a great future ahead of her. That future has sadly been taken away from her.
'The catastrophic injuries Angel suffered will mean life will never be the same for her or our family.
'Every day is not only a huge struggle for Angel but also a huge struggle for our family and friends.'
Bowskill must serve two thirds of his sentence behind bars before he can be released.

Australia's most successful adult film star has revealed how her parents reacted when she told them she wanted to work in porn and why she can't buy zucchinis.
Angela White said that her family found it 'tough' when she told them she was going into the porn industry which she was attracted to since the age of 14.
'I was never shunned by my family, I was never rejected by my family, but my mum particularly was worried when I told her,' she told Denton.

The 33-year-old opened up to Andrew Denton on Channel 7's Interview about her life when she's not on a porn set.
White said that her family never rejected her for choosing to do this with her life, but it was 'tough for them at the start'.
She said that these worries came from the stereotypes that surround the porn industry.
Although her mother voiced concerns, White's father was a little less vocal about how he felt.
'When I told him he didn't really have much of a reaction,' she said.
'Maybe he had an inkling that it was what I was gonna do, or maybe knew he wouldn’t be able to stop me anyway if he had reacted negatively.’
During high school, White said that she was known for expressing and exploring her sexuality.
So when she finally went into porn, it wasn't a huge surprise for anyone that she went to school with.

White also revealed in the interview that she prefers to go about her day with little attention
'People in my high school were not surprised at all when I started doing porn,' she said.
White also revealed in the interview that although she works in a job where she is completely naked on camera, she prefers to go about her day with little attention.
‘I’m actually really shy off camera. It’s kind of a double-edged sword,’ the porn star laughed.
‘I don’t really want that much attention in public. I just want to do my grocery shopping without someone looking at me weirdly when I’m looking at the zucchinis, because I really am just wanting to make food at home, and I’m not doing anything crazy with them.’
The 33-year-old has an honours degree in gender studies and has written a thesis on women in the porn industry.
She also produces, directs and stars in her own videos, believing they can be a force for good.

Few know Madonna better than her 47-year-old brother Christopher Ciccone. They grew up together in Michigan in America and learned to dance together.
Then Christopher followed Madonna to New York, where she began her long journey to wealth and superstardom.
From early childhood, through the years of determined struggle to the iconic figure she has become today, Christopher has been Madonna’s constant confidant and shoulder to cry on. He has been her personal assistant and dresser, her interior decorator and artistic director of her show-stopping world tours.
While much has been written about the most famous pop star in the world, only he knows the riveting untold story behind Madonna’s carefully constructed mythology.
Here, in unparalleled and intimate detail, Christopher tells their compelling story.
Madonna and I are standing in the driveway of her new house in Beverly Hills. She is facing me and I am facing the front gate when Guy Ritchie turns up in Madonna's black Mercedes and drives at me.
When he is about a foot from from me, he veers the car away, just missing my foot. I neither flinch nor move from my position.

He stops the car, rolls down the window and says: 'Are you trying to prove a point?'
I say: 'No, but I think you must be.'
He winds up the window and drives into the garage. Madonna turns to me. 'What just happened?' she asks.
I say: 'I don't want to talk about it,' and leave. No matter how much I dislike Guy, he's her husband and I want her to be happy with him, even though their life together is sometimes difficult.
When Madonna paid our sister Melanie's air fare so she could stay with her and Guy at Ashcombe House, their country estate in Wiltshire, she told me the atmosphere between them was very tense.
A Kabbalah rabbi would regularly come down from London to mediate between them. This does not surprise me. I believe that Kabbalah is helping keep Guy and Madonna together.
I worry about my sister. At 39, Guy is ten years her junior and she has given him latitude to pursue his own interests. But they are very different people with different approaches to things, and I wonder whether they will be able to bridge the divide.
I send her a positive letter, in which I try to help her understand him. I tell her that he is living in an incredible world with her, has an ego of his own and an idea of what he is, and that she may have shattered the illusion. She responds immediately, telling me that she is hopeful she will find her way. I hope she will. I first heard about Guy in late 1999, after Madonna was introduced to him over lunch at Sting and Trudie Styler's home.
I knew Guy was a British film director and that he was younger than her. Like her first husband Sean Penn, Guy comes from a solidly middle-class family and yet both are prone to present themselves as tough street kids. My sister, I believe, has always played the identical game.
After all, she is a middle-class girl who propagates the story that she landed in Times Square with just a pair of ballet shoes and $35 to her name. But that's pure mythology and the further she progresses, the more mythological her life story becomes.
