Rico Strong Construction LLC (Rico) is a minority owned, small business with big business ethics, professionalism and accountability! Rico was established in Flint, MI more than 24 years ago. Founded by Dorothy Strong, she is the company’s Owner and CEO. Being one of the first African American Women to become a licensed General Contractor in the state of Michigan, she blazed the trails to success. Starting out with a specialty in renovations and fire restoration Rico has completed an enormous number of projects for HUD and private owners. We’ve completed extensive commercial and residential projects for NIPP (Neighborhood Improvement & Preservation Project) as well as for the City Of Flint, including but not limited to the Mince Manner renovations and River Park Apartments renovations ($500,000 complete roofing and flooring installation) not to mention the IMA Civic Center (masonry).
In 2000, Ms. Strong decided to move to Savannah, GA., while her business continued in Michigan. Retirement was not becoming to the ball of fire affectionately known as Ms. D. Sometimes it is advantageous for your company to change its direction with the changing of times and new places. In 2005 after settling in, Ms. Strong reopened the company and focused less on renovations and more on concrete and demolition, for the City of Savannah rids itself of eye sores and dilapidated buildings instead of trying to bring them back to life. We make it our duty to rise to the occasion and meet the needs and desires of our clients.
Ms. Strong was awarded in January of 2009 for being one of 100/Plus Black Women of Influence in the Savannah area. She has also received the 2007 Trailblazer Award from Savannah African American Business Magazine, 2007 Graduate of Contractors College, and the Heavyweight & Middleweight Challenge Award 2007 from the Savannah Entrepreneurial Center and was nominated for Non-Traditional Business (2006).
