The update of the rules was a long-awaited one, as the launch of a private market for gambling operators in Ontario caused severe sports betting marketing in the state. But the rule change also states that celebrities, influencers, role models, and cartoon characters that are expected to appeal to minors are also banned from advertising.

In a recent e-mailed statement, Salz of e-sports-focused betting firm Rival said the latest changes would make operators more creative in marketing. He also noted that the industry has historically relied heavily on celebrity and athlete advertising, but that will change when the rule comes into force on February 28, 2024.

William Woodhams, CEO of British operator Fitzdares, said he had already seen a similar ban on players participating in British gambling ads that took place last year, explaining that he filmed a video with Fulham FC players the day before the ban.

Meanwhile, Paul Burns, president of the Canadian Games Association, calls for greater clarity on who deserves to be an athlete and who can appeal to children. He also noted that operators have contractual obligations and need time to adapt to changes in advertising. Mr Burns previously recalled that AGCO provided a six-month period for overseas operators to switch to a regulatory framework. 슬롯

Some people believe that implementation is too far away. This includes Bruce Kidd, a former Olympian and professor emeritus of sports and public policy at the University of Toronto. The regulator said it did not read its own announcement about the harm of advertising. This is due to the fact that new rules will not be enforced for much of the upcoming NFL season, or NBA and NHL seasons.

Others, such as Cynthia Mendoza, a retired teacher and basketball fan from Vancouver, think advertising has become quite annoying during the Raptors' game. She is worried that many of her past students may have been influenced by gambling-related marketing. She is pleased with these restrictions, but believes a blanket ban on such advertising is ideal.
