To fix IMEI

1) You should be on stock ROM.

Download stock ROM here and extract this in your PC->

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zTOmte8Vo3p4mwjQhZx5GNWtMs2CSYhP/view

2) Poweroff the phone and hold volume up and power button together, once you are in fastboot mode connect the device to your PC.

Note -> make sure you have installed necessary drivers related to fastboot and the fastboot and adb binaries also

3) In the extracted folder double click

 flash-all.bat

Wait for few minutes till the stock rom gets flashed, and wait till the device boots up.

Do the android startup settings and now you are in stock ROM without IMEI number . Open developers options from settings (open settings->About phone-> tap build number) and give usb debugging option.

4) Follow this thread to unlock the bootloader and root the phone.

https://forum.xda-developers.com/asus-zenfone-max-pro-m1/how-to/discussion-unlocking-bootloader-t3786698

Now we are going to get our IMEI back.

5) Install qpst driver and qpst tool to get the IMEI. Use the below link to download

https://forum.xda-developers.com/asus-zenfone-max-pro-m1/how-to/unbrick-unbrick-hardbricked-max-pro-m1-t3829754/page1

6) Get the dummy qcn file from here

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Pp7QY4FjXjIV95dgx3XHkDShm1U_zWTi

And to modify your IMEI u need hex editor (Google it and download), imei converter which u found in 5th step(xda thread). Give ur mobile imei in the input if imei converter.

So open qcn file and replace

1st IMEI hex =

08 1A 32 54 76 98 10 32 54

with ur first imei output which u got from imei converter.

For second imei replace this

 2nd IMEI hex =

 08 0A 89 67 45 23 01 21 43

with 2nd output of imei converter and save qcn.

7)you can follow the above xda link to restore the IMEI number.

If your phone is not detected in qpst tool then use this comment.

Open command prompt and

Type

  adb devices

  adb shell

  su

  setprop sys.usb.config diag,adb

Now qpst should be able to detect your phone. When restorting the IMEI in qpst tool , you have to browse and choose the qcn file you have saved. After that you MUST tick the MULTISIM option inorder to get back IMEI number. If not then your second IMEI number will not come.

8 ) now restart your phone

9) voila Now your IMEI restored.

*TO RESTORE SERIAL NUMBER INCASE YOUR DEVICE BOOTS UP AND CAMERA/FLASHLIGHT/WIFI ETC DOESN'T WORK :

1.) Take backup of persist from other device means which has serial number using twrp. It will create a folder like TWRP/BACKUPS/JXXXXXXXXX/

2.) Copy that Jxxxxxx folder (make sure it has pesist.emmc.win and recovery.log- only these two files needed) to TWRP/BACKUPS/ to ur device

3.) Reboot to recovery and restore persist backup that you saved

4.) mount persist in twrp and open terminal of twrp

5.) type

cat /persist/.sn.bin

in TWRP's terminal. This will show one 15 digit number which is serial number of other device.

6.) type

sed -i "s/15digitnumber/snyoufoundinbox/" g /persist/.sn.bin

15digitnumber : The number u got after performing 5th step

snyoufoundinbox : ur serial number which u can found on mobile box

7.) flash stock rom

8.) Reboot
