Iran: UN General Assembly resolution on Ukraine does not contribute to sustainable peace

The Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the UN General Assembly plenary session, explaining Tehran's principled position, clarified its negative vote on the presented resolution on the Ukrainian crisis.

Achieving long-term and sustainable solutions to this crisis requires addressing its root causes, including provocative actions and decisions by certain states and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

The presented resolution does not address these key issues, was introduced at an inappropriate time and without prior transparent consultations, and not only does it fail to promote peace but may also deepen existing disagreements.
