About the Opportunity
We’re seeking research scientists in computer science and computational physics to contribute to high-impact research focused on advancing next-generation AI systems. You’ll apply your expertise to investigate challenging research problems, evaluate AI-generated findings, and explore new proofs, algorithms, and computational simulations.
No prior AI experience is required. Your research expertise, computational rigor, and problem-solving abilities are what matter most.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify and propose open problems, new theoretical bounds, and tractable research challenges within your field.
* Conduct structured research using advanced AI models and agents to explore proofs, develop algorithms, and run computational simulations.
* Verify research outputs by checking proofs, reproducing numerical results, and applying formal verification tools.
* Evaluate findings for novelty and correctness by comparing them with recent literature and published results.
* Document methodologies, partial results, and research challenges through clear, detailed written reports.
* Identify promising discoveries and new research directions for further investigation by senior research professionals.
Required Qualifications
* Strong computational rigor and complex research problem-solving abilities.
* Excellent research problem-framing skills.
* Expertise in computer science, mathematical physics, computational physics, or a closely related field.
* Ability to critically evaluate research findings and verify technical results.
* Strong analytical reasoning and scientific communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
* Advanced research standing as a late-stage PhD candidate, postdoctoral researcher, or early-career academic within 0–5 years of completing a PhD in computer science or mathematical/computational physics.
* Recognition for research excellence, such as best paper or dissertation awards at leading venues, including STOC, FOCS, SODA, PLDI, or SC.
* A strong publication record within the past three years, including multiple top-venue papers and recent work addressing named open problems or introducing novel concepts.
* Hands-on expertise in computational methods, including simulation, numerical analysis, and algorithmic implementation.
* Experience reviewing or sub-reviewing papers for prominent conferences in your specialty.
* Experience using advanced AI models, agents, or formal computational tools such as Lean and SAT/SMT solvers in scholarly research.
* A publicly available research statement or academic homepage outlining specific open problems currently under investigation.
Compensation & Engagement
* Compensation: $100–$400 per hour.
* Engagement Type: Contractor.
* Work Arrangement: Fully remote.
* Schedule: Flexible, with part-time or full-time engagement options.
